B*llsh*t , just got a telephone that they just got them in.

Will look at them tonight and update my post.

A Freerecordshop employee told me that the 10th anniversary edition is a sticker.

I hope not........ will make pictures tonight.

You mean the golden Image is a Sticker, or do you mean it is a Sticker Steelbook ??

Hmmm, sadly but true . . . .i'm not buying this release.

Look for yourself, just made these pics tonight at the local freerecordshop.

The 10th anniversary logo on the front is gone and has become a sticker at the back. It is not known if this is the remastered edition.

A freerecordshop employee told me that they had to sent the other version back.

Inside you can see 2 discs with the UK and GER ratings logo on it. How strange ?

I canceled my order until i for sure know its remastered.

That's no way that can be the remastered version, the disc, including the number code is identical to last year's UK steelbook version.

I have a feeling retailers were instructed to replace disc 1 with the new remastered version and add a sticker so it could be sold already as the 10th anniversary edition. (since they still had copies on shelves)

Due to production problems on the new covers, the official 10th anniversary version comes out on August 5th, which is basically the same release with a new cover and a new disc 1.

I think...

I'm actually pretty sure it's a remastered version. In Sweden, our original release was withdrawn after a couple of months and retailers added a new pre-order for a 2-disc special edition which was going to be remastered. It will have more special features (most of them are using iPhone and iPod with the Blu-ray, bla bla bla).

But, the swedish release won't happen until October this year. But I think it would be ****ed-up if this NL release would be the old DNR:ed edition... I don't think they would call it 10th Anniversary Edition (Remastered) now. Why would they release a movie and use the same old release with a new case? No way. I think it is remastered.

I've been looking for the remastered one for a couple weeks now, but never checked the back of the steelbook for the sticker.

I just assumed it was the old one.

There'd be no way of telling then if you'd have the remastered version (apart from the massive difference in picture quality ) or the old version then as the codes on the disc are the same.

It just sounds too stupid of Universal not to be able to identify the new disc from the old one.

hmm there goes my theory out the window

Although the sticker on the cover says it features pocket-blu, which the original did not have. So I guess there still has to be a difference to the disks.

I would like to inform you of our today's "Thread conversation" at bluray-disc.de with Bert, the owner of http://www.movies-blu-ray.nl/

Hi Bert,

wonderful! You are here

Can you let us know if the 10th Anniversary Release will have only a Sticker for that golden stripe which is on the Cover Artwork?
Some rumours from a person close to Freerecordshop indicated this will be the same Cover Artwork than with the last NL Release and only have a Sticker indicating it to be the 10th Anniversary Edition?
Can you put some light into this rumour for us folks here?

As you know, also many people from Blu-ray.com, are really concerned about this rumour as well. You can see some pictures in this Thread on post #106.

Many thanks for your help Bert

Regards,
Sascha

I am currently investigating. I am angry, and has been piss off.
It looks like the Universal old stock at the re-packaging is.
I got an angry email sent to Universal ... see how they react.
I've had a lot of work to all orders, I have bought hundreds of dollars packaging matriaal ..... for nothing, I'm afraid. I leave all orders to expire, and will refund the money as Universal give no solution.

12:40 hours
Dear Steel Friends....

I have just spoken with the sales manager of Universal. It is true that Gladiator 10Th is re-packed .... shame ... shame ... shame. The people that this release, will be back in the office Monday. I hear next week whether there will be new made, please be patient. I can not help it and must also wait and see. there is a chance that a new edition comes.
I bale here enormously, I want my clients properly consider and inform.
I will keep you informed on this forum, I will temporarily turn off the movie on the site so no more people to order the film.

I would ask you all not to mail to me, I can not all be answered, I have to wait until next week.

what else can I say ... incredible....sorry guys

best regards
Bert

That is a shame indeed. So, I suppose there is still a slim chance that an actual remastered edition is coming later in the year? Or was this whole thing a SNAFU?

I think its SNAFU as its we who set the expectations when there was no official announcement by Universal.
