Hi, it took me 2 trys to only post here. The forum won't let me post anywhere else. I'd like to post on the appropiate forum, Blu-ray Players, but the forum won't let me. Very strange thing to do if members are looking for help! Anyway, I guess I'll post my problem here.

Anyone know which USB flash drives are supported by the Sony BDP-S370 so I can get BD Live to work on blu-ray discs? I've used 4 different Sandisks and a Verbatim, all were 2 mb or bigger. I keep getting a message stating "USB device on rear of unit is not supported" or "Valid USB undetected in the BD data jack" (whatever that means??). I can't find any info about this in the manual or anywhere else. Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem as the user above.

The BDP-S370 doesn't recognise/allow any of the USB storage devices I have.

I have 1 8GB SanDisk Cruzer micro, 1 4GB Sandisk Cruzer and a LG 320GB External HD.

With all 3 the S370 states that the Device is not supported. I have of cause formatted all of the storage devices to FAT32 and i am using the newest firmware available (M03.R.695).

So my question's are :

What am I missing?
What USB storage devices are supported?

I bought a USB drive for my 370.

Then it had problems playing back blus.

So I pulled the USB drive and presto... problem solved.

I would tend to think it would recognize just about anything USB.

Maybe your player is bad.

Is whatever usb thingie your are using formated to FAT 32?

Off the shelf USB dodads are usually FAT32 already.

Noticed there is USB port on the back as well, but i get the same error message.

Formatted to FAT32 with default allocation unit size (4096) using Windows 7.

Due to the vast number of USB storage devices available on the market, it is not possible to test all of these for compatability.

I would suggest that you try a different make of USB storage device. Playback from a HDD which would normally require installation of drivers when connected to a computer is not supported by the Sony BDP-S370.
I have since tried 2 other USB flash drives. a Kingston 8GB and an unbranded 16GB which both work fine!

Just in case it's useful info,... I have used 3 USB drives with my 370.

2GB with the name "super talent" worked 100%

2GB Kingston worked 100%

4GB Sandisk that I bought specifically for the S370 to give it some storage.. Made probelms with Blu Ray playback and sometimes reported "Connected USB device not responding".

I've read not all USB drives are the same quality and I guess I believe it.

I just reformatted to a FAT32 (it was NTFS) and then it worked fine.

A side note: What is up with the security questions when registering? I don't watch much television or children cartoons so I had to refill my password and answer multiple questions.

I currently own a Seiki Blu-Ray 660 Bluray player, which has great picture quality ,but on some blurays it will skip?

So I was wondering should I buy a Sony Bdp s270 or maybe a Sony Bdp s360.

The s270 is $128 while the s360 is $99.

The other reason why I am thinking of upgrading is that the Sony's have upgradable firmwares while the Seiki will likely never seen any updates.

So what should I do?

EDIT:

Will I notice a picture quality difference?

It supports fat,fat32 format only. I have a hd of 1 tb and I make a 4gb fat partition out of it and it recognizes it properly.

I had the same issue, took me a while to find one that worked.

I tink everyone I tried that supported ReadyBoost would not work.
