Lazy film companies, particularly annoying when the uncensored version is always shown on TV

In the sense that we get the bog standard US R rated cuts where previous VHS versions were uncut over here (okay, Scream has always been the R Rated version in the UK, but Elm Street and Candyman were uncut in the good old days). That's one very annoying thing about DVD/Blu Ray if the masters have been done in the US and the UK companies are too lazy to make sure that we get the full versions that we previously had. It mainly applies to films that came out before the trend for extended and unrated versions, they just fall between the cracks.

Hopefully it's slightly more likely that the UK would be unrated since the UK is being handled by Universal and the US would be handled by Sony.

Here is the only difference between the R rated version and the unrated: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1900
I will buy the film even if it isn`t the unrated version. It`s only just 2 alternate shots that are replaced with more violent shots. |

I first watched it when I was a tween. The whole movie, right from the start, is unsettling and laden with a deep sense of forboding. Philip Glass' tremendous score really alone gives you the chills. I don't want to spoil it but it has one of the best jump scares in cinema history.
I get that people want the uncut version but I'll be happy with the theatrical version. It's a tad misleading to say it's "cut" when really it's the theatrical version. Correct me if I'm wrong on that though. |
