So a new digital/streaming version is coming soon (and probably a 30th anniversary Blu-ray)?

Wonder if they'll use the Disney logo or the Touchstone logo? I only ask because recently, the Disney logo is starting to be plastered on Roger Rabbit merchandise. There was even a Blu-ray re-release in the UK this May that has a slipcase containing the Disney logo (Blu-ray is the 25th anniversary edition).

Methinks little by little, Disney is officially making WFRR part of their family. It happened with Nightmare Before Christmas and now it's happening to this.

I kind of hope they keep the Touchstone logo, since the opening music goes with it.

But if they're in the mood for re-releasing blu-rays for anniversaries, Muppet Christmas Carol needs an extended one...

I'm still a Graphic Designer but not working for any of the major studios right now. Disney farms out work to different companies sometimes, and I worked on Poster/title artwork for about 16 different territories. Updated elements, formated artwork for different sizes, created web ads, new backgrounds & title treatments.
I also did work for Cinedigm and a little for WB. I don't have much inside info on release dates or future remasters as I wasn't given any information like that. I worked on I'm guessing well over 100 Disney titles, plus ABC/family channel stuff.

Star Wars losing the Fox logo I can live with, but Roger losing that Touchstone logo as Alan Silvestri's cooler-than-a-frozen-polar-bear music starts up would be a cruel blow. Hell, they can tack a Disney logo onto the very start but don't take away mah Touchstone!!

They could always have the Disney AND Amblin logo, the latter featuring the music.

Someone did just that:

Or compromise; the Disney AND Touchstone logos.

My thoughts exactly. That's something we HAVE to keep fighting for I, II, III, V, and VI.

If you don't have a blu-ray I would hold out because Disney is supposedly rereleasing it very soon with a digital copy.

But the cuts to the movie are somewhat trivial/not plot related. http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=545028

There actually is a French HDTV airing which is fully uncensored, including Betty Boop.
There has been a preservation project over at Originaltrilogy.com.

It's interesting that the stuff that the director and animators state on the commentary that was corrected because the public was never meant to see it, and were only subliminal, private in jokes for the animators benefit, is considered censorship.

I consider the Baby Herman goosing censorship, not so much the other alterations.

That was also a joke that wasn't intended to be freeze framed by the general public though.

Betty Boop was a mistake that was caught and fixed before any video release. Baby Herman is most likely studio-imposed, otherwise why did Zemeckis wait 15 years to fix it (unlike the other two)? Jessica's underpants is *clearly* studio-imposed, that's why they have to keep re-animating different fixes, because they have no other "original intent" to go back to. (That plus the fact that it was only done *after* parents publicly complained to Disney.)

To this day I still think it was an inking error.

I remember catching it on my CAV LaserDisc.

I think it's funny how all the other "fixes" are intact except for the Jessica undies on my JP copy. They just colored them white and called it a day. The disc was released in mid 2000s, so it should have at least had an extra dress flap added like the US copy.

Must be a market based change, that's the only explanation I can come up with (which doesn't make sense in Baby Herman's case because Japanese kids goose each other ALL the time).

The first fix was "white panties", sources are a bit different about when that was done. But then parents still complained -- before it was ambiguous, whereas now it was *clearly* panties. So they did a second fix. That's what I mean, it's pretty clearly imposed on the film after artistic completion; whether you want to split hairs about "censorship" or not, it is pretty obviously not the intent of the creative people involved. Possibly they only updated territories where people complained.

Well I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Japanese are not complaining about panty flashes.

Heh, at least it wasn't the Little Mermaid "penis cover".
