I am surprised that the Gerard Damiano blu rays sell not so well. I guess most people have no idea who he is. Most people probably don't know the directors of even famous porn films. I myself can't even remember who directed Debbie Does Dallas. I don't know what sells well, I must say I tended to enjoy the Night at the po no box set more than say Pretty Peaches or some of the other films. It is fascinating to me to see a film, that is rare, and I have never heard of, and I don't recognize any of the actresses in. I mean I've seen Annette Haven naked in enough films, I don't need to keep seeing her naked lol, I need some films with other people who I don't see in film after film.

Adult movies were more grandiose in the 70s and didn't have to compete with the internet. I know who Damiano is but even though I met Linda Lovelace at a Chiller convention (she seemed very nice), I don't recall who directed the biggest adult title that she was in.

While I generally don't buy Blu/DVD porn, I'm a year long VS subscriber for a couple of years now, so some hard core stuff has wound up in my collection. Not knowing it was porn - I'll often blind watch my VS selection for the month - I put on Her Name Was Lisa and thought "Hey, this is pretty good!" and then some dong showed up.

I wound up fast-fowarding through the fuicking to get back to the plot - so either I lucked out and got the one 70's porno with a good script or it's a wider genre than you know of (pornos with plot, not just 70's pornography).

Milligan, Watkins, Ferrara, and Damiano were probably the best of the skinflick auteurs, but I'm still probably gonna be looking at something else for half of the movie.

I wish more VS movies were like Beyond the door III

I had no idea what this was. And itís turned out to be one of my favorites of this years VS releases.

Production value was great. Hot girls. Satan. Crazy plot twists and cool kills.

Glad to add this to my collection.

Wes Craven directed some too, but his name wasn't known at the time until he switched to horror. I had one on 16mm. Funny that IMDb doesn't list those. I think Hollywood was part of the title. I didn't think it was that good though.

Looks like he has them under writing, acting, producing, etc credits. If he directed we might still be unaware of his pseudonyms.

I don’t know what disturbs me the most, the fact you didn’t know there are a heap of high quality vintage porn films or the fact you FF through the sex!

You missed out Cecil Howard and Radley Metzger, probably THE two best directors in their field.

Just out of interest, why would you be looking away? Don’t you like sex?

Surely sex and hot woman are a huge part of sleaze.

You know me too well The poonslayer kit is indeed in close proximity.

Tough one to answer mate, as there are a few favourites in there. If I had to choose....

1. Slaughterhouse
2. Cutting Class
3. Grandmother's House
4. Berserker
5. In The Cold Of The Night

So many good releases though. Party Line, Amityville Boxset, Graduation Day, Demon Wind, Ice Cream Man, Psycho Cop Returns etc.

VS literally breathes new life into some of this flicks. Looking forward to what the rest of 2019 and 2020 brings.

You are forgetting Alex de Renzy (the greatest in my view), Gregory Dark, Steve Sayadian (Rinse Dream), Anthony Spinelli, Mitch Spinelli...there are quite a few directors with unique styles and viewpoints that came out of the Golden Age of Porn.

Andy Milligan only made one film with explicit sex at the behest of his producer. The scene is brief. Fleshpot on 42nd Street is barely a skin flick. I don't think he belongs in the conversation. Same with Abel Ferrara. Made one sex film and moved on.

Kinda hoping for a Howling box set like the Amityville one. IV through VII are available for licensing, which VinSyn considered picking up, so maybe they'll do a set next year.
