Outstanding news!
Hopefully he can cobble together a staff as equally competent as the one he had prior- most of whom I assume were given the axe last year as well.

I think some of the old WAC staff might come back, given they’re not too embittered from getting booted a few months ago. I don’t think they’d come back for WB’s sake as much as they’d come back for George, the movies, and the fans. I’d absolutely come back for them but I’d have no respect for WB after that.

I suspect that WB didn’t do the firing. I suspect it was AT&T.

Since they won’t be in the picture anymore, things could go back to ‘normal’

AT&T's decisions have been very penny-wise, pound-foolish, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Kilar, who took home 584 times the average wage at the company, endeared himself to those staff he didn't fire last year by telling them in a video town hall that he wouldn't be following other studio heads lead (including AT&T's executive chairman and president, whose combined compensation didn't match his) by taking a pay cut during the current unpleasantness (admittedly most of those execs who did kept their bonuses and share awards). He seemed convinced that because he was doing great, so was the company and his $52.2m was a fair reward for creating new 'shareholder value.' He's a textbook example of failing upwards.

Maybe Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde 31/41? Though admittedly I've no idea if the negatives survive for either of these.

I just thought I should add that the documentary "Lon Chaney: A Thousand Faces" has been released on the excellent BFI blu-ray of The Phantom of the Opera. So its omission from the DVD-R WAC edition is therefore mitigated by this fact for me.

Memo to George Feltenstein:

Welcome back, George! Because we here on the Blu-ray.com forums tend to never be completely satisfied, how about a humble request? We acknowledge this is not your department, but anything you can do to revive the policy illustrated below, we would all appreciate it.

Yours truly,

Happy Greedy Blu-ray.com Members

YEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!
A couple of weeks back, Robert Meyer Burnett(who runs the podcast where George appeared that was posted a few pages prior) stated on said week's podcast, in a pretty cryptic way, that "one studio(and one streaming service) had hired a person with the most knowledge of it's(or most other's) studio's catalogs", refusing to elaborate much more. Since that's how I'd heard him talk about mr. Feltenstein before, and given that no other studio seemed to fit the description I figured George had gotten rehired. When George popped up on the following week's podcast, which was shot live, acting like he had no connection to Warner at the moment and like no interactions were happening between him and the studio, I just figured Robert had gotten bad info. I'm soooo happy I was wrong!

In fact, it appears that mr. Feltenstein is quite a good actor, as it seems that some of the stuff he's said this year was him acting a little coy (back in February he stated no more Thin Man titles were in the process at the moment, which given Shadow of was announced for August means he was at least bending the truth a little since there was no way it wasn't at least in the planning stages back then. Plus his comments in the final April show regarding hesitation in investing in p.d. titles, which clashes with the Santa Fe Trail announcement, not to mention the Life with Father restoration currently on HBO Max).

I won't expect everything to go back to normal, like Matt and D.W. getting rehired and the podcast coming back on, the youtube page being updated once more and the return of the 4 for 44 sales, but I hope that we at least get proper announcements and press releases.

Pleeeease let those be the ones! Those two are my most wanted Warner owned horror titles, most of which I'm only mildly interested in.
