USA We must support the continuation of the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection!

At the "Looney Tunes Platinum Collection on Blu-ray Reviews" thread at the blu-ray.com forums,

KCota15 has said:

"So I have some bad news. I just emailed Jerry Beck and he said although there will be a Volume 3, it won't be out until around Christmas due to poor sales and the series might not be continued after that"
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...176841&page=24

But I responded with bravery, not cowardice!:

"Now hold on, just because the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection could end after vol. 3, doesn't mean that it CAN end!

in 2006, Leonard Maltin said that the Walt Disney Treasures (dvd) are ending and will be replaced by the Walt Disney Legacy collection (dvd) in 2007, but in 2007, because of popular demand, the Walt Disney Company makes the Walt Disney Treasures continue on from 2007 to 2009, & the Walt Disney Legacy collection was short-lived.

& on the other side of Burbank, according to what the people said, the WB studios is about to end the Looney Tunes Golden Collection (dvd) after vol. 5 in 2007, but suddenly, they had a change of heart, & are going to release a new volume of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection one more time in 2008.

& the dvds of "Tiny Toon Adventures" and "Animaniacs" did not continue with their new volumes until in 2013 that they finally got their long-overdue new volumes!

So if you people out there have supported the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection, then I say do the best you can with mails and e-mails, campaigns and petitions, & buy the 3rd volume immediately, stores & online!

& maybe, just maybe, the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection can continue on, maybe all the way to 2019! Because you people do love and supported Looney Tunes!

& Jerry Beck, if you read this, you are always welcome to support this!"
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...176841&page=25

So what do you say, people?
We can win if we are brave & will never give up!

& as Bugs Bunny says...
"Looks like this boy scout's gonna do his good deed for the day" ("Hare Trimmed" 1953)
& "You realize that this is not going to go unchallenged" ("Barbary-Coast Bunny" 1956)

Spread the word about this subject at...
the "Golden Age Cartoons" facebook page,
the "General DVD Discussion" section at the "DVDizzy.com" forums,
& the "Retro: Classic Cartoons" section at the "ToonZone" forums.

& show your support & demands by posting comments on the "WB Classic Animation" facebook page.

Spreading the word isn't going to do much. If you want to vote, do it with your wallets. It's all about money. You think this would even be an issue if the first 2 sold extremely well?

Warner isn't going to release future sets simply out of the goodness of their hearts. They're a business, and you have to expect them to behave like one. Get people to buy the existing Platinum collections, then maybe Warner will listen.

I bought both volumes myself, but I do have to wonder if the inconsistent packaging affected sales of the second volume?

I have the first two volumes and will buy a third. Still, at this rate, they'll need at least 10 more volumes to put out everything.

What I found strange about Volume 2 is that I never once saw a copy in any store around me. Best Buy, Future Shop, Walmart, HMV, none of them ever had it. I still see Volume 1 everywhere, but never 2.

I've always meant to order it from Amazon.ca though and in light of this news I will grab one this week.

I'm still ticked the volume 2 was not a digibook.

Bring on volume 3 and include the censored ones (that might increase sales ).

They need to quit dicking around with random collections and do everything in chronological order.

As a supporter of any television, new or old, on Blu-ray (especially animated and family varieties) I wish collectors of these releases the best and I hope these releases continue.

In what other way should they listen? Get a job at the studio, put in 60 hour weeks for the next 5 years and give all of the Blu-rays as gifts to blu-ray.com members without taking a penny home. This is the kind of listening that you want them to do?

The problem is that there's too many penny pinchers around. You have people that own 2000+ Blu-rays of $5 bargain bin superhero garbage, but won't spend $30 for an amazing collection of some of the best cartoons in the history of cinema.

THAT is the problem. Poor taste. Low cultured consumers.

Likely Volume 1 never sold so the retailers didn't bother to stock Volume 2.

good point. I thought that was a little weird too since there were a few options for the first set and then set 2 was a step back. guess the first ones didn't sell that great and it impacted set 2.

I have only watched bits and pieces of each and I love these but that doesn't mean it will sell well. look at those Disney dvds that they were releasing in steel cases - they started out strong and started to drop after a few years and this was classic Disney stuff. maybe there just isn't the market that we think there is. look at how many classic shows don't get released on dvd and bluray or are done on-demand only.

I bought the first 2 volumes on both formats and I'll definitely buy the 3rd volume the same way.

+1

Maybe if they dropped the prices on these they'll have better sales. If it wasn't for best buy's price drops on these I would not have the first two volumes.

The biggest problem I had with wanting to get these releases was that they only included the blu rays. I am of the belief that movies that I get for my kids should include the DVD's too. Naturally, we would watch the blu's at home, but we have a portable DVD player for the car, and my parents and in-laws have DVD players. We have the Golden Collection on DVD and that almost always comes with us on long trips. Having said that, I finally broke down and purchased the second volume during Best Buy's recent sale. I will wait for another sale before purchasing volume one. If each set included both formats, then I would have puchasred both during release week.

They'll be releasing cartoons on home video forever. Kids like cartoons and there's always a new crop of kids. Warner Bros' mistake is thinking that fanboys are the market for this. They are a very small contingent, and as long as they make whole disks of Speedy Gonzalez or chronological Pepe le Pew, the entertainment value of these sets plummets along with the sales.
