I REALLY hope this BD includes the US cut of the film, if it is indeed remastered.

It's one of my favorite films, I saw it six time in theaters. While the differences in pop songs are minor, they're distracting enough to me that I'll rebuy the film in an instant if it's the cut I saw all those times in theaters.

Just got my review copy.

Trouble with Love leads into the party.
Sugababes is the 2nd song in the credits.

Is that the US version?

Not so fast! The U.S. DVD always had the US version. So, this new Blu-ray could simply be the same transfer used for the DVD.

I, too, very much look forward to reviews and perhaps some screenshot comparisons between the two Blu-rays!

Fine by me even if it is as the D-theater used the same transfer and was much better than the bluray, as long as they don't add ee and dnr to it like they did with the prior bluray.

Tell me how to do screenshots and I'd be happy to do it.

Yes!!!!!!!!! Never thought I'd live to see this day. Just placed my Amazon order, to arrive along with Notting Hill, which will finally include the commentary the UK disc left off.

Love Actually is one of my favorite movies ever, but was marred by a minute but grating difference on the prior BD. I figured I'd just have to live with it, I NEVER imagined there'd be a re-release with the correct US version.

So looking forward to getting this disc. I don't even care if it's an improved transfer, the US pop songs are reason enough for me to get the disc. When I watch a film at home I want it to be the exact same version I saw in theaters, especially when I saw it 6 times

I'll keep my existing disc of the UK cut, as I''m a Richard Curtis completist. I've also got the BDs of both the US and UK cuts of Bridget Jones's Diary (which are much more different).

Thanks for the heads up.

Put me in the camp that the song choice is worth the upgrade, especially with the $10 price point from Target.

I am hoping Notting Hill also gets the same $10 love from Target.

What was the song choice problem?

Actually its not discussed much at all. A very short discussion that only folks who are really familiar with the movie would understand. As always you jump in with a short unhelpful post about searching, like you're a moderator wannabe or some stupid silly picture.

Thanks for the link. Didn't even know there was a difference between the US and UK cut.

I assume that's the only difference (two alternative music placements)? Nothing in the dialogue changed or cut?

Nope, just the two songs changed between the US and UK versions.

I suspect Universal was just lazy and used the UK master for their original US BD, without checking it. I also suspect that someone pointed out the song replacement to them afterwards, which is why we now have the US cut, which they're contractually obligated to release in the US, at last on BD here.

Also, as I understand it, many Asian countries, in which nudity is frowned upon, had the ENTIRE subplot with Martin Freeman as the nude body double removed completely. I've never seen such a version and have no interest. Alternate versions created by the filmmakers interest me, but not those created purely due to censorship requirements.

Bridget Jones's Diary, has many more differences between US and UK, including a different postscript scene over the end credits and some British words even redubbed with American equivalents ("Alsatians" changed to "wild dogs", for example).

It may sound minor but the replacement of these two songs ruined my favorite moment in the film. As the Kelly Clarkson song starts, over a montage of the characters, we see Laura Linney adjusting a tiny LED Christmas tree in her apartment. I had that exact same little tree at the time in 2003, IKEA sold it. Somehow that moment really connected with me, and the changed music in the UK version on the old BD ruined that moment for me.

It sort of makes me want both editions without getting rid of the one I currently own. Hmm...

By the way, I had no idea about the differences on the Bridget Jones Diary releases!

Yep, if you're a fan of that film it's worth getting the region-free Universal BD from the UK as well as the Lionsgate BD from the US. There are numerous differences between the two versions, with the alternate postscript scene being just the most obvious.

This lists a few:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243155/alternateversions

However it overlooks the redubbing of British-isms like "Alsatians" into "wild dogs".

It's weird when they make dumb changes like that as if people in the US won't understand certain British slang. Or like Harry Potter changed Philosopher to Sorcerer? I mean, do they make a UK version for 8 Mile? I'd hate to see if they wanted to "Americanize" the dialogue for Attack the Block.

I think the disc for The Fully Monty was changed back to the original UK dialogue (at least the DVD release).

Not a chick flick guy, but I do love this film. It always takes a spot in my Christmas playlist of movies. Happy to hear we're finally getting the corrected copy. Hope they didn't stop there.
