Yes, indeed. From Wikipedia:

Quote:
The film was directed by Nathan H. Juran and later re-edited and re-released as a musical by producer Edward Small. The reason for the change to music was on the grounds that Columbia Pictures, which released The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, threatened to sue Small. The original print without the music got released 30 years later with no protest from Columbia Pictures, while United Artists continues to own the rights to the musical version of the film.
If the 101 Films release will be a mirror of the Kino one, then the disc will have both cuts.

Amz listing for blu-ray is contradictory as it specifies 94 mins but 101 films DVD was 90 mins cut..

[Show spoiler]Not my copy but from eBay-

Not an immediate priority so I am not overly bothered about the cuts .

According to DVDcompare, the DVD version contains the original, theatrical version.

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparison....php?fid=21295

The 90 minutes running time is because of the PAL speedup.

Well it's a limited edition, and we know it's sold pretty well, so chances are they've exhausted their allocation.

I noticed that also, so I wound up ordering that and The Grifters off of an eBay seller that said they had 'more than 10 available' of each title.

Saw this listed earlier. Is this from Tartan, I wonder? Curious they've done Black Book and now this as well. I wonder if they'll bother with The Proposition and The Machinist, and whether they can do titles like Safe, Coffee & Cigarettes, Palindromes, Secretary, Mysterious Skin, The Woodsman, Mean Creek, Julien Donkey-Boy....

Thing is, it's unclear how many of these are still with Tartan. The Hired Hand, for example, went to Arrow in the end - as did some Tartan Asia titles like Dark Water, Dead or Alive etc (and some to Third Window too). Could be that they're losing the rights to a lot of things and 101 Films are catching wind of them after they collaborated on that short-sighted Bergman DVD set (you can import the upcoming Criterion BD set for about £150 right now).

Iím sure another 25GB disc with a ridiculously low bit rate.

They are low quality. A real limited ed should be of highest quality possible.

I stand corrected.... however the specs for the actual film look anemic

Specs from DVD Beaver on THE GRIFTERS

The film barely could get 20GB of the disc space!

Mysterious Skin is coming next year in a new restoration of the OCN from Camera Obscura. Any other release will struggle to compete, they also have Mean Creek coming too...

I’m pretty sure disc 1 of Rollercoaster was a BD50, only disc 2 got a BD25.

I saw The Cooler at the cinema and was enthralled by it. Rewatched it on DVD a year or so later and thought it cliche-ridden with some terrible acting from the model-turned-actress (can't remember her name).

I originally thought Tartan had lost the rights to these films as I've never noticed any mention of Tartan or their logo on the Arrow releases. However, on Amazon Video, films such as Black Book, Dark Water and Audition are available as digital download and streaming with Palisades Tartan listed as the studio. My guess is that they are sub-licensing the home video rights for these films to 101 and Arrow (but I may be mistaken).
