Default No longer need XML files for iTunes Digital Copies!

This is a super easy guide to redeem your disc-based iTunes codes without the disc or xml files. No need for those time consuming usb drive tricks!

Choose the option for your computer below.

Download MAC
Download PC

For Mac, its as easy as running the dmg and opening iTunes. Click the Music button at the top left to get a dropdown menu and select Digital Copy. It will then ask you to enter a code.

For PC, you'll probably need software such as Daemon Tools (free) to run the iso file. Otherwise it's the exact same instructions as Mac.

Wow, this actually works. I burned the ISO to a CD-R and it now sees it as any XML. Thanks!!

Cool, can I still use a USB for it though instead of a DVD? I'm not sure if burning an ISO to a USB stick does the trick or not..

That's why I said to use Daemon Tools. It emulates a DVD drive so you can just right click an ISO and mount it to the drive. No need to waste blank dvds

Nevermind, burned the ISO and extracted the xml off it. Looks like a generic Warner Bros redemption. Has someone tested it with other codes like Fox or Disney?

I see what you mean. I just used a CDR from a stack of 100 I've had hanging around for probably 10 years so no great loss...

Funny I ran into this after DMA made it unnecessary for me.

Only if you redeemed the code in DMR, in which case DMA generates a license from your DMR history and adds it (usually in HD, even though the disc was usually in SD) to your linked iTunes library. I have several titles (borrowed by GF for her daughter) I never redeemed in iTunes that popped up that way when I joined DMA; if I had known about this before DMA I coulda used this to redeem them in iTunes without retrieving the DC disc (the code itself is in my DMR history), but with DMA that's no longer necessary.

That is separate from redeeming the code directly in iTunes; for older Disney codes that *still* requires the disc (real or fake). However, that's only necessary now if (a) you never redeemed it in DMR, (b) you don't sign up for DMA, or (c) ironically, if you got the code from someone else who never redeemed it directly in iTunes. If different users redeem the code in DMR & iTunes, *both* will now have DCs in iTunes -- the DMR user in HD thru DMA, the iTunes user in SD thru disc redemption (upgraded to HD once linked to DMA).

I just got a Cars 2 code (thanks to kind member Nasru). The DMR was redeemed. Used this method and got the movie in my iTunes so easily and into my DMA account.

I use a PC and used Virtual Clone Drive to load the ISO.

The DMR was used on the code. The only way I could get the movie into DMA was by putting it in iTunes first.

And yes ... The code in iTunes still requires the disc.
