I don't think that it's a new cut, judging from that page. If this isn't some sort of goof, I think that it might be evidence that my theory that the "Editor's Cut" is a new name that they've coined for the theatrical cut may be correct.

On Vudu, they've updated the artwork for the Spider-Man films (both previous series), but the Spider-Man 3 one doesn't say "Editor's Cut." For the record, you can't get Spider-Man 2.1 as digital copy either.

That doesn't make any sense, why would they label the Theatrical Cut of the movie by another name? Surely it would just be called Spider-Man 3.

No it's not. I'm pretty sure the Theatrical Version will just be called Spider-Man 3 and the alternate version would be called Spider-Man 3: The Editor's Cut.

I just noticed that the Amazon link has Editor's Cut down for a 137 Minute Running Time.

Probably not, but the truth is no one knows. Sony hasn't announced anything, which is why I opened the way I did. If it was just a repackage, no announcement makes sense.

Why though? There has got to be a reason behind this odd name change...

Is it new music/unreleased or just music being placed differently?

It looks like the 4K transfer. I'm doing a simultaneous viewing of the Editor's Cut and the DVD. It looks like the overhead horizontal shot where Flint fell into the sand pit was removed.

This is interesting also puts out a good point that Sony is releasing somthing with little to no hype or advertising so in 3.1's case (if this is even 3.1) Sony would release under the radar.

I'm 40 minutes in, and I'm not noticing any MAJOR differences yet.

Any noticeable additions or deletions of footage?

Apparently the excitement got to him! I hope he's okay!

So far this version contains the deleted sandcastle scene and a deleted spider-man swinging scene

I'm surprised this rumor actually panned out, excited to hear what other differences there are!

I believe they've cut out the scene of the butler telling the truth to Harry. Also they have moved scenes around and deleted Aunt May's last scene where she talks to Peter in his apartment.

Just skimmed through parts; it looks like the scene where Bernard the Butler talks to Harry about Norman's death is the missing two minutes from the theatrical cut.

Besides the sandcastle and new swing scenes, there's alternate dialogue between Harry and Peter before their second fight.

Another editing change: Peter calls out Eddie for his fake photo before his fight with Harry, not after like in the theatrical.

Is the Harry/Peter dialogue better than the theatrical dialogue? I remember the theatrical dialogue being a bit cringe worthy.
