Default The Black and White CinemaScope Blu-ray Thread

I'm a big fan of black and white films shot in the CinemaScope aspect ratio (2.35.1 or 2.55.1), so I thought I'd make this thread for others to keep track of what's available on blu-ray. Many thanks to HyperRealist, who started a thread just like this last year (and which can be found here: link). He's given me his blessing to take over the maintenance of this topic, which is why I've created this new thread.

The films are organized chronologically, and I've created an "honorable mentions" category at the bottom of the post for films in this AR that feature black and white as well as color.

If you see any films that are not on either list but should be included, please post them so I can add them to the OP. Also, the second post in this thread is dedicated to any and all wishlisted titles. If you have any black and white CinemaScope films you'd like to see on blu-ray, please post those titles (with original release years) in the thread, as I'll be updating the wish list along with the OP.

Was Hud (1963) filmed in Cinemascope? If so, then that's one for the wish list.

It was indeed. I'll add it.

What's weird is that I had that film in the OP, but I must have inadvertently deleted it. I'll add it.

Let's break the rules; four for the wish list.

Sink The Bismarck (1960) is very good, it's been on TV in HD a few times.

And three Sony's from 1958 & 1963

Hammer's The Camp On Blood Island. A WW2 Japanese P.O.W. film

Hammer's, The Damned (US These Are The Damned). A film like no other.

The Victors. A really sour anti-war movie.

Sony won't release them, but I hope someone will license them.

All added. Thanks.

I also added And While We Were Here (2012) to the main list. This film is a bit of a special case; the blu-ray features both the original director's version, which is completely in black and white, and the theatrical release, which is in color. Since the option exists to watch the entire film in black and white, I added it to the main list.

Do you really mean Cinemascope or do you mean any black and white film shot with anamorphic lenses and with an aspect ratio of 2.35 or 2.55:1?

"Manhattan", as just one example, was not shot in Cinemascope. It was shot in Panavision. In the theatre, it's compatible with Cinemascope, but it's not the same thing as different lenses were used in the taking.

In fact, there were few Cinemascope films after 1967. Panavision's lenses were considered far superior.

I'm using "Cinemascope" as a catch-all term for anamorphically shot films in 2.35.1 (or 2.55.1 -- are there any B&W films shot in this AR?).
