Man I hope this release is good technically. I have such fond memories of wearing out my VHS copy when I was a kid.

I would look at An American Tail as a idea of what this will look like

I think this one will look significantly better than AAT. Just a hunch.

It's amazing how a movie stand so much apart on its own compared to its sequels. It's like going from When the Wind Blows to Despicable Me.

OMG! OMG! OMG! (Okay, sorry I had to get that out.) I still remember trying to collect all the Pizza Hut Puppets they had. Sharptooth and Spike were understandably the most awesome and coveted. Sarah? She could take a hike.

Do I need to say day one? Go ahead Amazon, keep the price at retail up until release. Nothing will deter me...

Smart move Universal. Jurassic World seems to be released at that time also.

More Don Bluth on Blu is always a good thing. And at least this won't have the phucked-up audio track that ruined An American Tail on both Blu and DVD. Hooray!

Seeing this is one of the happiest posts I've seen in a long time on this forum (happy tears). I was just thinking about this movie the other day. It was on a retro cartoon channel. Such a great movie! Pre-ordering at any cost.

You mean there is no report whatsoever that the 5.1 mix is substantially different than the original audio?
That's good to hear.
Now, if only they would include the full screen version too (and provided that the transfer is grainy and not "restored ala Disney"), I would be happy and would buy it!

With this finally hitting Blu-ray, as well as The Iron Giant, I just need Titan A.E.; and I'll be a happy camper.

If this is the same 5.1 track that was on the DVD, there were no discernible differences I could detect from the old VHS and laserdisc releases...certainly no re-voiced characters and/or additional sound effects like American Tail.

Yay! Another Blu-ray to cross off my not on blu ray yet list. I'm still pining for The Black Hole, the original War of The Worlds, and Invaders From Mars.

Yay! For more catalog & 80's titles being released.....unfortunately for me it's just not one that I was hoping for. Was this any good? Never got around to seeing it when I was younger.
