Default List of Cineteca di Bologna/L'Immagine Ritrovata color restorations

Since more and more people are beginning to have issues with certain titles they restore, I thought I should create this thread to bring more awareness to their tendency to tinker with the original look of certain titles they remaster which results in a nasty blanket yellowish tint and poor black levels.

I'm trying to create a list which is as complete as possible so i would be great if other members could provide other titles they have remastered.

A Fistful of Dollars (Restoration not on Blu-ray)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (MGM 4K remaster)
Duck, You Sucker (Italian Blu-ray)
Once Upon a Time in America ("Director's" Cut version)
Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key
The Black Cat (Arrow Video)
Demons 2 (Colors fixed on Synapse but not on the UK Arrow disc)
What Have You Done to Solange? (Further corrections done by Arrow)
Deep Red (UK Arrow 4K Remaster/Further corrections done by Arrow)
Dragon Inn (UK MOC)
Mariage Italian Style
A Touch of Zen (Criterion/ UK MOC)
Pane e cioccolata (Italian BD)
A Special Day
Death Walks on High Heels (Arrow Video)
Death Walks at Midnight (Arrow Video)
The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave (Arrow Video)
The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (Arrow Video)
Fist of Fury (Hong Kong 4K remaster)
A Better Tomorrow (Hong Kong 4K remaster)
The Bloodstained Butterly (Arrow Video)
The Tree of Wooden Clogs (Criterion)
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
A Brighter Summer Day (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
Breaker Morant (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
Shoah (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
Senso (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
The Vanishing (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)
The Night Porter (Restored by Ritrovata but they didn't color grade)

Don't have confirmation, but likely restored by them:

Demons (Fixed on Synapse, unfixed on UK Arrow)

Note that they also restored Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, A Brighter Summer Day, Breaker Morant, Shoah, Senso, The Vanishing, The Night Porter, but they didn't do the color-grading.

Here's another you can add to the list.

Seems they should stick to black and white films.

Looks horrible.

Just added Fist of Fury too, looks like they're moving onto messing up Bruce Lee films now.

If we're talking about colors then should these not be added then? As to not create confusion since the focus is on color correction/accuracy?

I think those shouldnt be included but I specified that so that people posting titles here know they should check if the color grading was done by Bologna.
On the other end, I also wanted to emphasize that not everything they do is bad.
I see that the list has been updated with the titles but with a note about the color grading, I think it fits well.

Ritrovata strike again on Criterion's upcoming release of The Tree of Wooden Clogs.

Police Story 1 and 2 (Eureka UK)
(the colour grading in PS2 is terrible, the first one looks fine, though)

It does, but not to the same effect as on other titles though. Camera Obscura’s release has been delayed because they are doing a complete regrade (and following this and Amuck which they also had to regrade entirely, they have said they will not use Ritrovata anymore to do anything but the scanning as it is more work to undo the application of their film print LUT that is applied to all their restorations).

I watched my arrow blu a couple of days ago and it clearly does have tinting issues.

An article partly tackling the issue of debatable color gradings (or at least how it's complicated nowadays to know exactly how a movie should look like considering how wildly different various video incarnations of a movie can be) has recently been published on MUBI : https://mubi.com/notebook/posts/film...ing-experience

There has also been a French article, a bit more focused on Ritrovata and Eclair, published a few days ago with plenty of examples showing the color signatures of those labs and how numerous the movies concerned are, plus listings of the movies concerned : https://testsbluray.com/2021/05/08/r...ts-techniques/

The list at the bottom of the article is the best list I’ve seen to date. They even include the Twilight Time/Fox blu-rays like Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter and The Gang's All Here:

Fox's "Blue" joints ("House of Bamboo", Rock Hunter, "Wild River" etc) are underwhelming. Basically just about anything that's grey gets an unnecessary blue bias even when the scene might call for it.

They also restored the 1976's series "SANDOKAN".
Good restoration, but some (few) shots were "out of focus" and blurry.
