FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPHE LAUNCHES NEW BLU-RAY™

MANUFACTURE-ON-DEMAND PROGRAM

Blu-ray “Choice Collection” Kicks off with Long-Awaited Debuts

of The Karate Kid Part III (1989) & The Next Karate Kid (1994)

on September 6

CULVER CITY, Calif. (August 19, 2016) – On September 6, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) launches the Blu-ray™ “Choice Collection,” the newest format offering from SPHE’s successful Manufacture-on-Demand (MOD) program. The “Choice Collection” offers a diverse slate of titles, encompassing something for every taste, with a curated flow continuing throughout this year and into next.

The collection kicks off with the long awaited Blu-ray debuts of fan favorites The Karate Kid Part III (1989) and The Next Karate Kid (1994). In October, the slate includes Brian De Palma’s edge-of-your-seat thriller Body Double (1984), Marie Antoinette (2006), which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and the acclaimed music documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2005). All features are presented in full high definition with lossless audio.

Blu-ray MOD is an exciting expansion of the existing DVD MOD program, which has seen a variety of the studio’s fan favorites, cult classics and hidden gems come to market with a seamless consumer experience, via retailers such as Amazon.

Out of all of the titles released this is the one I must buy. I still can't believe it took 10 years for this to get a blu-ray release!

On Demand? :/
Ten years waiting for a release of this great, criminally underrated film, and it comes out on a BD-R? Ugh.

A title that was suppose to have a BD release ever since BD first launched. Almost 10 years later.

In all fairness, do we know this is going to be a BD-R for sure?

No sale. And I would have paid list price for this film.
GTFO with this BD-R garbage, Sony.

Damn. At that price it might as well be Twilight Time... heck, let Mill Creek do it. Are the anticipated sales numbers for the first wave of MOD titles so low that even Mill Creek's budget model will not move them?

Couldn't they have a sub-label like Warner Archive? Or have a small print run? Anything but the highly unreliable BD-Rs. Not going to spend my money on any of these.

$27 each does seem overpriced. Hopefully they end up lowering the price on these.

It's going to take a hell of a lot lowering for me to buy a BD-R. Such a shame. I agree with others that have said they'd rather pay TT type prices for a proper release. I've been wanting this one for a long long time... but I have principles.

No thanks, Sony. I'd buy if 'em if they were pressed, but not this nonsense.

I really love this film, it's a shame it's getting such a disappointing release.

Oh well.
