Default Jane the Virgin: The Complete Second Season (2015-2016) pre-order

Quote:
Jane the Virgin is a series about a young Latina woman who is accidentally artificially inseminated at a routine gynecologist checkup. Jane is consequently shocked to find out she is pregnant, especially considering she is still a virgin and has always planned to wait till marriage to have sex for the first time. Now faced with the prospect of a child, Jane is then told the father of the baby is a married man, cancer survivor and current owner of the hotel where she works. He also happens to be the handsome Latino playboy she had a huge crush on when she was younger.

It appears that the shows on the CW that are produced by CBS (some of them, at least) are getting the MOD blu-ray treatment, whereas the shows from WB get the pressed discs.

This is great news, as far as I'm concerned. I don't care that they're not pressed discs.

Fingers crossed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gets the Blu-ray treatment too. It's also a CBS produced CW show.

I'd rather them not get my hopes up, because it will just end up being MOD and I won't support that...

Jane the Virgin season 1 was originally released by WB, but apparently it didn't do well enough so CBS is handling the home video releases now... So CBS is releasing season 2 on DVD and BD and going back and releasing season on Blu-ray all as MOD releases, and also re-releasing season 1 on DVD as MOD. So if anybody wants a legit disc release of season 1 you better get it now because it most likely is going out of print if it isn't already.

Season 1 is finally available on Amazon. Season 2 still just a pre-order with an undetermined date.

Yes, S1 is finally available! I don't care if it's MOD. I love this damn gem of a show.

I would like to issue a word of warning to anyone who is considering purchasing this Blu-ray release.

It looks like utter dog shit compared to the Season 3 release on Amazon Instant Video:
https://www.amazon.com/Chapter-Forty...dp/B01M8JMS2C/

Here are comparison screenshots for Season 3:

You can see that the Amazon streaming versions are clearly superior quality.

Season 1 and Season 2 look better on Blu-ray than they do streaming on Amazon Instant Video, as you would expect:

Amazon really dropped the ball with Season 3. It looks so bad like they encoded the episodes with x264 ultrafast preset or something. Or maybe they didn't even use x264 at all this time, maybe they used some terrible commercial H.264 encoder. Unlike the Season 1 & Season 2 Blu-rays, there is no x264 header information present so there is no way to know which encoder they used.

I have already returned mine for a full refund. I suggest everyone else who got tricked do the same before your return window closes.
