Default Your paltry 15" and 18" subwoofers are no match for AIA's 50" SMSG50 subwoofer!

Yes, that's right...a 50" subwoofer.

AIA (Ascendo Immersive Audio) will finally be showing off their monstrous SMSG50 50" subwoofer at High End 2017 Munich next week.

I've heard it rolls off pretty sharply under 6Hz tho...

haha

This is the closest they have to a product page at the moment - http://aia-cinema.com/details/aia-on...d-in-munich-1/

They have more pics and video on their Facebook page.

WOW! Marty McFly would be impressed! It would go along well with his 6' diameter speaker...;-))

Quads would have a better bass response.

Quads for sure, definitely helps you get flatter response down to 2Hz.

Now at some point I'll have to upgrade my 480i 27" CRT to match the sound I'm getting from my subs.

Forget about getting just two.
You need at least four, to completely level your house and every house on your street!

All kidding aside, I would love to be in an HT, with these beast, while watching War of the Worlds.

While it's true that one needs to push air in order to properly replicate a sound, I have a feeling that it's very hard to get the proper transients out of a cone that size and that it's going to sound like crap, much like those people who have subwoofers in their cars that make all the metal in the car vibrate.

But I'm sure there's some super-rich macho boy who can't get a date and would think this was "cool".

It's going to cause havoc with other equipment due to the size of the magnets inside it! I personnally find spreading out subwoofers more effective than having one giant one. I've got three Jamo D7 15" subs & find them adequate, although I'd like a fourth!

Has this 50" monster sub had a video update? I'd recommend the plane engine at the end of donnie darko. Oh & I've located a 4th D7 Jamo sub but the shop is currently asking to much & its a good 130mile journey as they won't post it.
