Default Is this an OK budget Home Theatre

Hey all

So I have deided to get rid of all my aging AV stuff and wanted to get a half decent 4K/Atmos/Dolby Vision setup. Now this is in no way a high end setup but as its just for my smallish living room it doesn't need to be. So after a ton of research I have come to this:

LG OLED65B7V 65" OLED TV.

https://www.johnlewis.com/lg-oled65b...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Oppo UDP-203 UHD 4K Bluray Player
https://www.sevenoakssoundandvision....iAAEgLsBPD_BwE

Q Acoustics 3000 5.1 Home Cinema Speaker Package
https://www.sevenoakssoundandvision....SAAEgJdkfD_BwE

Sony STR-DN1080 AV Receiver
https://www.weybridge-audio.co.uk/so...iAAEgKck_D_BwE

PSB Imagine XA Dolby Atmos Speakers
http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/imagine/Imagine-XA

From my musings it seems this is enough to not only receive Dolby Vision and Atmos but it is fairly future proof too. The only downside being no proper ceiling speakers but they are not an option for me unfortunately. The PSB upfiring speakers have got great reviews and should be the best compromise.

So what do you guys think? Is this an OK kit to get me into the world of proper 4k,HDR,Vision and Atmos goodness? It all comes to around 5K which I know is pennies to some but is a lot for me. I don't plan on upgrading for a good few years after so want to get it right. Seems to be a happy balance between cost and power. What do you think?

Not sure the PSB's will sit comfortably on top of the Q Acoustics. The measurements would indicate they "should" fit but with the rounded corners on the Q Acoustics it's hard to say. Other than that I haven't heard any of the speakers or seen the display, so I don't have any other input.

My input would be to try listen to the Q Acoustics with the Sony, if you haven't. At least listen to the speakers. You may also want to upgrade the sub.

Oled+oppo = anything but a budget home theatre.

you've got a reference player and display right there. Same setup im rocking, and couldn't be happier. For audio, it looks like your in the UK, So not sure on good pricing and options for receivers, but stateside the best bang for buck for 4k atmos is denon right now. Im using one right now with up firing atmos speakers and its pretty decent. Not as good as atmos sounded in a locally store with real in cieling, but its still a good improvement from just 5.1

I have an Oppo myself and I love it, but I wouldn't suggest cheating the speaker budget for the player like that. Get the best speakers you can. Electronics come and go, but good speakers last a lifetime.

unless you need the hi rez audio playback of the oppo I would switch it for the Sony 800 and put the cash difference to the speakers or reciever.

I have no experience with Atmos, but I'd say skip them for now, and get higher quality speakers.....I'm not sold on the 5.1 speaker package. The bulk of your audio budget should be your mains and center channel....

I also have the oppo and love it, but if you want a budget UHD player consider Samsung K8500 and spend the cash on speakers.
Consider HTD Levels IIIs and center channel https://www.htd.com/Products/Speaker...three-speakers

I definitely would not recommend the Samsung K8500. For one, it's mostly discontinued although I wouldn't be surprised to see it come up on black Friday.

There are noise issues for one and it does not support Dolby Vision. It's definitely not the best. If you want to save money on a player probably a LG (with DV firmware update available soon) or a Sony would be the way to go. The Sony 800 will not get DV support either.

That TV does HDR and dolby vision but I don't see dolby vision listed for the player. Might want to look in to that especially with how much you are paying.

The Oppo 203 definitely does Dolby Vision. He's all set as far as the player and the TV is concerned.

I wonder if he bought anything yet?
