These look real interesting. Might have to make one of these for a winter after holidays project. Kind of bored with my cheap Polk 505's. Want something with real punch.

I'll have to look into that, as an Inuke 6000 would actually bring the price down . Even more so with 2 subs as it's a 2 channel amp. It's says 3000 watts into 2 channels, buts that total BS I've seen the amp Dyno run on it. Only hits 2000 before clipping, and 2400 max. Should be good enough.

I've decided what to do, and it won't be that kit.
I'm going to build a Marty Cube cabinet and use the Dayton UM18-22 18" Ultimax subwoofer, and a Berhinger NX-3000D amp. Total cost will be under $800, and it will tuned to a lower frequency than that seal kit can go.... Win Win. |

I also plan to do the either the Marty Cube or a sealed cabinet with the Ultimax's at one point. My room is just not set up for it yet. I have a drop ceiling and wood paneling, the pressure from those beasts would rip my basement apart.

So I settled for the cube. We are in a trailer at the moment, still waiting for the "perfect" house to pop up on the market. This sub might just rattle this place apart lol. |

Purchased the UM18-22 sub while it was on sale, that has arrived as has the NU6000DSP.
After modeling several different volumes of ported and sealed enclosures with this sub in WINISD I settled on an enclosure to build. The enclosure outside dimensions will be 22.5 inches wide , 22.5 inches high and 19.5 inches deep. Internal dimensions are 21"x21"x18", internal volume minus bracing and driver volume I have calculated as being 4.01 ft^3. Haven't looked at MDF sheets just yet, maybe this weekend. Once I generate a cutlist. Should only take 1.5 sheets to complete. I plan on finishing the exterior in high gloss piano black epoxy. |

Definitely will keep updating as I go. As far as quality and Dayton drivers, I don't ever hear many bad thing about them. This sub driver is no slouch, it's rated 1000watts , but people throw 1800 watts at these all the time, they take a beating and don't complain. Had some time today after dinner, went to Home Depot to look at some.MDF, did not buy any. What they had in stock was junk, warpped chipped just junk. Told the manager that their current inventory of 3/4" 4'x8' MDF was not very good looking and that I am going to take a pass on it, maybe go-to Lowe's to check out thier stock. He was quick to apologise said he would make sure to get some new stock in asap. I thanked him and said I would be checking back in a couple days. |
