HBO codes still redeeming on Google Play?

Had 5 GP digital codes for different HBO series I attempted to redeem today. When I tested them on http://www.hbodigitalhd.com/ no option for google play came up, the codes just sat there, assuming HBO's redemption site is having some type of website issue happening at the moment (03/24/19) but double checking with some of the ninja changes to digital codes currently.

Method to Maximize your HBO redeems as of 04/19:

The moment any part of the HBO code is redeemed (regardless of how or where) equals HBODigital reporting the entire code is burnt.
While the GooglePlay portion is lost because the only way to generate that code is from the HBODigital site.
Important: If GooglePlay is redeemed first it may burn the vudu and itunes portion of the code.
Save the google play url for the last redeem.

1) Log out of Google Play. Visit HBODigital, generate the Google Play redeem url, save it, do not redeem GooglePlay yet.

* you will need to remove the "flowName=GlifWebSignIn&flowEntry=ServiceLogin " from the saved url end (after the &)

* If the googleplay generated url looks like:
play.google.com/store?code=23DigitCodeYouNeedToSave&payload=longst randofnumbersherethatyoudontneed

Simply copy, paste, and save the 23 digit GP code that has been generated for later use (after Vudu and iTunes redemption)

Step 1b, for me, is always verifying that the extracted code is valid via the GP Redeem dialog: http://play.google.com/redeem

2) First actual redeem should be Vudu or iTunes directly into those providers.
* At this point HBODigital will now report the code as being used and no redeems left.

3) The second redeem should be the Vudu or iTunes portion you have not used yet directly into that provider.

4) Last, now you can use the saved Google Play url link, redeeming the 3rd part of the hbo code.
Important: If GooglePlay is redeemed first it may burn the vudu and itunes portion of the code. Save the google play url for the last redeem.

While this method works as of 04/19, it could change in the future or not work at all. Seeing that HBO (warner) appears to working towards making these 1 redeem codes.

**As of mid July, starting with From the Earth to the Moon, new HBO codes appear to be Vudu only. No iTunes, No GooglePlay.**

Not all new codes are limited to the Vudu Only 1 redeem. It depends on the title (thanks WB.. like this wasn't already difficult to keep track of)


HBO reported titles released after 07/19:
Chernobyl - 1 redeem (Vudu Only)
Deadwood the Movie - 1 redeem (Vudu Only)
From the Earth to the Moon - 1 redeem (Vudu Only)
Game Of Thrones Season 8 - multiple redeem
Strike Back Season 6 - 1 redeem (Vudu Only)
True Detective season 3 - multiple redeem
Veep Season 7 - 1 redeem (Vudu Only)

Another possible method for telling if the HBO code will be 1 redeem or multiples, what url location does the code slip specify?
If the code is redeemable at:
* http://www.hbodigitalhd.com/ - multiple redeems are possible (not always guaranteed and require the above method).
* wb.com/redeemdigital on code slip - is always a single redeem.

Just tried to test Barry S1 Google Play, code just does loads doesnt show any option to redeem, I think website is broken

Same here with HBO codes. Hopefully just a glitch with their website.

I agree...the website must be broken. I'm able to get the selection screen when the code is unused but once a portion is used offsite, the selection screen can't be retrieved. While that's not a problem for getting the vudu/fandango now and iTunes portions as they can be used offsite, the Google Play portion is inaccessible since it must be redeemed on the HBO site. I hope they fix it soon.

It's because the Google redemption is burning codes. If you redeemed on Google it killed the Vudu and iTunes redemption. They did the best possible thing and got rid of the Google redemption until they can fix it.

When ever I use to redeem a HBO code. I first redeem the vudu code for myself & gave away the code to others for iTunes & Google. Never had a problem but looks like that is not the case now.

i cant even get the hbo site to respond to a bad code, just type the letter "a" and hit enter. it spins. it spins on a good code, a bad code, an used code, an unused code.

Might be something with the site. I have codes that showed previously that GP was available (after Vudu/UV and iTunes were used), but now shows nothing. Once code was used on Vudu, 3 weeks ago still showed the option for iTunes and GP, now spins and does nothing like p w notes above.

Based on my experience, for HBO codes I would recommend first redeeming directly in iTunes, then the Google Play, and last VUDU. I have found using iTunes doesn't impact the HBO Digital redeem options page. Then, use Google Play as the HBO Digital page is needed to launch Google Play and use the code there. Finally, use directly in VUDU.

Of course, I can't guarantee this will work for all codes, just based on my recent experiences...please try at your own peril!!

I just redeemed Entourage on Vudu through the HBO site. When I go back to the HBO site, it no longer gives me the option to select a provider. I guess I burned the iTunes and Google Play codes???

I did the same thing for Band of Brothers last week, but it worked. Redeemed it in Vudu from the HBO site, went back to the HBO site and redeemed it in Google Play. Worked without any issues.

Will try the Entourage code again in a few days... hopefully it's just a bug with the site, and not a crack down.

Just redeem a code of The Wire. Went to the HBO site this time, it gave me an option for Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play.

This time instead of redeeming through the HBO site (like I did with Entourage), I manually went to the Vudu website and redeemed the code from there. Then I went back to the HBO site, entered the code, and nothing. It's not showing me other providers. Unfortunately, since I only paid for the Vudu redemption, I didn't check to see if redeeming directly through iTunes would work.

I did try redeeming my Entourage code in iTunes, but it seemed like it was trying to redeem and then crapped out. Just tells me, "The item is no longer available".

I suspect HBO is cracking down on people using their codes with multiple services.

I just tested all my 'partial' redeems and the only code working is "The Night Of: Season 1".

Doesn't seem to matter which parts were redeemed.

Removing all the HBO codes with the exception of "Night Of" from my sales listing.

I just tried Season 5 of Veep. Redeemed at iTunes a year ago or more. Entered at HBO. All 4 options show up. I choose Google. I launch google, but the redeem box doesn't pop up. I then redeem at Vudu no problem. Try it at HBO and now nothing.


edit: But hours later having left the Google page open i noticed a code was generated and was still able to redeem at Google Play.

If you redeem Vudu first you can't put it in the HBO site.
So best course of action here is to pull google play (Don't redeem)
Then redeem Vudu, iTunes, Google Play”

So it sounds like you want to generate the google play code via the hbo site but don’t redeem it until after you’ve redeemed the others directly.

I'm a little confused about what you posted. So are you suggesting that I enter code & Vudu, iTunes, & Goggle Play instead of HBO site?

You can't redeem directly at Google Play. Yesterday I redeemed codes at HBO did Google first and was able to still redeem Vudu a few seconds later. No way im trying Vudu first. Vudu burns to much. I had already redeemed iTunes a year earlier.

Seems to me you generate a Google code but don't redeem it. Write it down or screen capture the code.
Go to Vudu and redeem.
Go to iTunes and redeem.
Then pull out that Google code and redeem.
