I think there might have been something mislabelled (possibly meant to be the Nordic?).

From memory, I don't think the US version on 88 has window-boxing, and it looks superb overall.

Yep. I own the Nordic release, and its dogshit like most of us knows.

Jesus, I was worried about second there, but then I click those caps that 'saltysam' posted and maaaan...I'm relief. US version is the only one for me.

@agenda & @chen lung: You misread/understood. Saltysam posted caps for both cuts, and I compared the "Standard Def HK version" (saltysam writing in the quote) to the HK/JC cut in the Nordic release. I even labeled the comparison page "Protector - HK/JC Cut".

The 88 HK/JC cut is zoomed in quite much.

Just one thing I'd say about the HK one: it could be that it is a mastering thing, but also that reframing did happen when it was being made (e.g. certain stunts; nudity).

Awesome stuff, looks pretty damn good if not quite up to the very high standard of the last bunch of 2K HK titles from 88Films/Eureka. Telltale signs in those grabs of a master struck from an IP (which isn't a bad thing at all, obviously).

HK version looks rough even by SD upscale standards. Oh well, not a fan of the film in either incarnation so that's not a huge blow to me, and at least 88Films went to the trouble of slapping it on the disc.

Hmm, I think that you still don't get the full picture here (pun intended).

My comparison is HK/JC Cut in 88 release Versus HK/JC Cut in Nordic release (it was in 720x480px size, not upscaled like the 88 release cut seems to be, I maximized the Nordic release for the comparison to work, i.e. both in 1080p). Why is the HK/JC Cut in 88 release zoomed in so much?

Ah, I see.

88 was converted from, ahem, a PAL source, so I don't think upscaling was involved (also: unlike Eureka/Fidelity - who upscale to 1080 - 88 keeps SD stuff at such resolutions).
