Marketing folks tell me that the Sony Cierge people (as of a couple of days ago) are offering VIPs special accommodation packages to attend the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and/or Finals in various combinations. DenonCI can always PM me and I’ll give him contact info to the lady in charge.

DenonCI, I'm told the packages start at $3,000, without airfare, (and then go up from there…depending upon hotel accommodations, seating locations, etc.).

If you’re interested, it’s probably best to act without hesitation.

Would be fun, but I'm playing in the WSOP Main Event the first week of July, so I'm already booked.

Hey, ask Kris what the submariners really think about female officers living with them on the subs. I'm curious about the real scoop rather than the Naval party line, so to speak.
They don't seem real thrilled about it, but we still have some time before we see it happen. Right now the pissing contest is over the no smoking policy that takes effect at the end of this year.

I don't have a problem with women on subs though, I met my wife underway on the USS MIAMI a few years back. How many people can say they met their wife underway on a sub??

That’s about the only thing that can perk up my spirit today.

Nothing worse than your team losing and afterwards having to clean up after more than 20 guests. At least nobody spilled beer or wine on the screen.

I didn’t know that. I thought they were headhunting the recent Annapolis graduates.

I won a super satellite ($25) in a local casino in May that won me a seat in a $220 satellite on June 5, which I then won as well (one of two seats they were giving away to the main event). So I'm playing for around $9 million off of a $25 entry fee

If I can at least cash (top 700 or so), it will be one hell of a parlay (about $22K). I set a goal for myself earlier this year to someday play in the WSOP and it was the first year I tried to make it. Hopefully I can play well, get a little lucky, and win it Heck, if Chris Moneymaker can win it, anyone can (he's not a very good player, even though he won it in 2003).

Another bad call in the World Cup by the officials, but Germany was just too good for England and I doubt that second goal that was missed would have made a difference in the end.

I said it before and I’ll say it again (see last paragraph – “When I saw…)

Here’s a big tip of the hat to Germany and I know who I’ll be rooting for in the upcoming quarterfinal match against xxxx, as the young guns from Germany became men today on the World stage.

so, changing the subject mildly, given that Treme is inevitably going to be THE most important TV-on-BD release of the year, this is pretty excellent:

I think Germany has the chops to win it all.

hey, look, a pretty camera, and a guy in the middle who I had as one of my scorers and didn't get a goddamn goal all tourny...

ps. that's a hell of a Steadi rig, but while I'm sure Filmmixer is the only one that might care, those are Sennheiser HD-25s cans on his ears, if I'm not mistaken.

Rooney played better today even though he didn’t score. Did you get any points for *improvement* in your office pool?

I was actually hoping that you would find and post a pic of an Argentina soccer babe to cause me to reconsider my position in regards to rooting for Germany in the Quarterfinals.

I found you the Paraguayan babe above and got no credit... Even if they're out, it still should count.

I need Messi to score about 14 goals, and Villa to get about 20 more and I'll be fine.

I'll help out a little:

I would hate to see her cry but what can you do when Argentina has to go home after the quarters

Seriously though I think that Argentina and Germany are quite evenly matched and I doubt we will see another 4:1(2), it will be closer than that.

Should be interesting to listen to England's Press Conference today on Sky Sports News when I get back home from work.

What time is the team arriving back in London?....in the wee hours of the morning? One upside to the whole affair is that Theo W. is probably feeling pretty good right about now given the fact he wasn't picked for the team.

The club downside for me was finding out in the other match (Argentina vs Mexico) that the guy who scored for Mexico is apparently headed for ManU?

Folks, Sharkshark rocks with his Paraguayan passion pic.

Now find me a soccer Fräulein to counter my current Argentine fixation.
