Amazon Amazon Originals on Blu-ray

In the US, most Amazon Studios titles are distributed through Lionsgate Home Entertainment (who also handle the A24 and Miramax catalogues), however there are notable exceptions as streaming becomes more prevalent with international releases being the only option. Some titles are DVD only. Titles vary between being produced by Amazon Content Services LLC or being picked up for distribution, either domestically, internationally or worldwide. Sometimes extras can be minimal and simply duplicate promotional material already available digitally, but this isn't always the case and international releases can have exclusives.

As with Netflix, most Amazon Original series don't receive disc releases unless they were made as co-productions with a production company that does offer physical releases.

It goes without saying, but this thread won't cover Amazon retailer exclusives.

DVD only:

Author: The J.T. LeRoy Story also has a UK release from Dogwoof. Photograph will receive a DVD release from Curzon Artificial Eye. Balloon (StudioCanal/Amazon Prime Video) also has a UK DVD release. The series The ABC Murders has a UK DVD release, as does Small Axe.

Internationally released as 'Amazon Exclusive' or 'Amazon Original' films/series:

I didn't know The Upside (2019) was a Amazon Original film outside North America.

If anyone knows if the French release of Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot (Metropolitan) has forced subtitles I would be grateful. According to the spec, it includes:
Quote:
Exclusive Interview with Gus Van Sant and Joaquin Phoenix
As with regards to The Upside:

I didn't know it was in the case until I noticed the Amazon Studios logo on the back of the DVD case!

I had no idea a lot of these were Amazon Originals. The Wall, in particular, surprised me.

Is The Big Sick their most famous/successful/acclaimed movie?

Is Preacher really an Amazon original?
I don't have Prime but watched all of them on AMC while they were airing. Maybe it's the home video label is linked to Amazon?

Opps, just saw the "Internationally released as 'Amazon Exclusive' or 'Amazon Original' films/series" banner. Now the world makes sense again.

I'd say second.

Manchester by the Sea made $79 million during its theatrical run, The Big Sick did 56. The former also got 2 academy award wins & 4 more nominations. Big Sick only got 1 nomination.

Considering Sony owns The Boys, it's anyone's guess to the possibility of a Blu-ray. Good Omens is happening because BBC owns the rights, but it's unknown what Sony's plans are for The Boys on home media. They may release it on Blu-ray because of how much of a smash hit it was. At this point, it's a 'wait and see' situation.

I don't know the terms of the distribution agreement, but I hope Sony are able to release Honey Boy and EOne release The Aeronauts on disc over here in the UK.

The Only Living Boy in New York (if you choose to still follow Allen's recent films), dropped from distribution by Amazon, is getting a disc release in Poland and Germany.

Surprised the Man in the High Castle hasn't gotten a Blu-ray release.

The Commuter was an Amazon Original? That's definitely news to me.

It wasn’t, see the subheading. Prime Video has an agreement with StudioCanal, but it’s not an ‘Original’ - Prime Video has a “with the participation of” credit.

Unlike Jack Ryan, which was financed by Paramount and only broadcast on Amazon, or House of Cards, which was financed by MRE and only broadcast on Netflix, I believe Amazon actually financed High Castle. I could be wrong, but I don't believe Amazon has released any of the series they actually financed onto BD.

Alpha House they financed 100% themselves and did let season 1 get released on Blu-ray. But besides that, you're right. I'm glad Good Omens was co-produced by BBC and The Boys was co-produced by Sony. Hopefully Sony puts The Boys on Blu-ray soon
