Hope it has the theatrical cut branched on the disc as well which would make it the current definitive release of the film.

Any chance the Aussie release is the same?

Find out in a couple of days I guess...

Just picked it up, it is one single disc that contains the director's cut only at 170min.

There is one special feature "Let The Festivities Begin: Manifesting Midsommar", 25min.

English DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio and sdh English subs, in 2.00:1

See, I want both cuts but I also want to support the local release-fingers crossed that I prefer the director’s cut (luckily most people seem to prefer it).

I'm thinking I'll just grab the local disc and hope for a 4K release of the theatrical cut somewhere other than Italy at some point down the line.

I didn't see the Directors Cut at theatres, but I'll grab this one locally even if it doesn't have the theatrical version as well. These days I'm happy if a movie I like even gets a Blu-ray release in this country.

You can invest in an all region Blu-ray player and not worry about regions of releases.

According to IMDB trivia: The Director's Cut is only labeled as such for marketing purposes. Ari Aster says that, contrastly, he actually thinks the theatrical cut is the best version of the movie because it "flows better". I'm having trouble finding a source for this though.

It might actually explain why the director's cut isn't getting wide exposure. But what do I know.

He introduced the new cut of “Midsommar” as “the more complete version of this film,” conceding that the “theatrical cut may have better pacing, but this is the fuller picture.”

I started watching the U.S. theatrical cut disc of Midsommar this morning (I had to turn it off about 20 minutes in cause something come up... I'll start it from the beginning when I put it back on next), banding is worse on the U.S. disc compared to the local directors cut disc:
