2020:

For the 2020 it appears to me they tried to make the entire scene have the same color. The actor's skin, wall, objects... clearly the remaster applied a filter that even removed some detail in the actor's face.

The 2008 Blu-ray looks more realistic to me.

Another good example:

2008:

2020:

What's wrong with the contrast? Don't you all think it's too warm?

Frankly I am getting tired of seeing classic movies with that sort of tinkering. Skin colors need to be realistic and true to the original material, and applying filters that were never put there in the first place in an attempt to compensate for the darkness in some scenes or other particular aspect from the movie the distributor didn't like spoils the image.

Even in this picture I can clearly see detail was lost by a slight alteration in this regard:

2008:

2020:
https://highdefdiscnews.com/wp-conte..._bluray_16.png
On my crappy 20" monitor here....

The first set of images show a subtle amount of EE along the left side of his black coat on the 2008.

On the last set of images, I see a bit more detail on the 2020 release. On the 2020 release, to the right of Goldberg, the names on the elevator buttons are a little sharper, wall a little sharper in detail, the silver plate of the elevator names shows a little magenta push on the 2008, and Swayze's hair and face skin shows more detail on the new release.

Was tonight's viewing. Solid transfer. Best of this line so far. Detail is excellent. Grain handled well for the most part. Notice some management in the opening credits which has been on par for Paramount titles lately but otherwise great throughout.

My only peeve was that once in a while colors took on a bright lightly blown out look and skin tones went pastel. I've notice this on BHC, Fatal Attraction, and Pretty in Pink as well in regards to Paramount remastered Blus. But a majority of the running time colors where excellent.

Yeah, I think everyone's going to shit a brick when they see the heinous eyesore shot (right after the 'directed by' credit) of Swayze, Moore and Goldwyn breaking through the ceiling, but just take a deep, calming breath because (as is not uncommon for photochemical films), the transition to the first (and subsequent) non-credits footage is breathtaking.

Watched my copy this past Sunday night and as already mentioned it looks great. Paramount has had a pretty good year when it comes to catalogue titles.

I didn't realize that none of these Paramount Presents have Digital Codes.

That's an odd choice for a premium BD release series.

I watched my copy tonight and just to echo what's been said the transfer looks great. Didn't know what to think at first since the previous transfer was great too but I could tell the improvement right away. Same goes for Airplane! I really hope Paramount keeps up this line with so many great films still not released on blu yet.

Why, why cant Paramount never port ALL existing features!!

As much as this is absolutely annoying, I looked at those featurettes on the DVD I own after receiving the disc, and the first one is an interview piece with several "real-life" mediums, and the latter is essentially a video rundown of an AFI list, so neither are Ghost-centric. Learning about that 22-minute featurette from a DVD that didn't get ported, that's a bigger bummer to me. But this is definitely an improvement from Pretty in Pink, where they junked 80 minutes of actual behind-the-scenes content and the commentary.

This is such a beautiful movie still and I'm in love with the image quality. Really happy with it.

Felt great to see it again after all these years.

Okay watched this last night, a few things. First, I was crying before he even died, that damn song... Cmon man!

Next, I'm not one to really discuss the picture quality of a movie, but since this is a new transfer (?) from Paramount, I was expecting to be really amazed. I was far from amazed. To be honest, this looked like a DVD sometimes, like when they are in bed talking in the beginning of the film. It was soft and not very clear. But that being said I buy these movies to watch and enjoy and rarely care about the PQ unless it's very bad. Ghost was not that. I enjoyed the movie too much to pay attention more than the odd scan here and there.

I'm just glad to have a new bluray release of these classics from Paramount, honestly.

"Damn baby! What'd you do to yo hair?!" I forgot how I used to say that over and over back in school... What a great film.

I found this release to be too bright. Seemed like the brightness was turned up more than it should be.

Apparently, when they released the first few films they didn't include digital copies, but now with the most recent releases they are including them, Roman Holiday and The Haunting will have digital copies

I honestly liked this movie a lot more before Whoopi Goldberg showed. Felt tragic, dramatic, and sad but Goldberg pretty much turned it into a comedy pretty much. S
