Sidekicks (1992) coming to Blu - Blu-ray Forum

Dreams can come true!

I’ve mentioned this favourite of mine tons of times on the forum and always hoped, but never believed, that we would get a solid on disc release.

Until now…..

Sidekicks is finally coming to 4K and/or Blu Ray

Just been doing some digging and came across this on the Gorilla Pictures website. They are advertising Sidekicks as now being in 4K UHD to celebrate the movies 30th anniversary!!

Although no official date has been given for a 4K or Blu, it’s obvious that one is coming. Based on it being for the 30th anniversary, we should be hearing an announcement in the coming weeks.

I’ve added the link to the new HD trailer below, which comes up with a Samuel Goldwyn films logo at the start. I’ve checked and MGM owned all media rights in 2018 and now Gorilla Pictures own all media rights since 2020 according to IMDB.

Gorilla Pictures also own all media rights to Red Sun Rising, which has just been announced by VS. You will also notice on the website that there is info and a trailer for Whatever It Takes, which was also released by Vinegar Syndrome not too long back. So basically, I am 99% sure that Vinegar Syndrome will be releasing this.

As a bonus, the Cynthia Rothrock flick Sworn To Justice is also now owned by Gorilla Pictures, so I would also expect a Blu of that one soon.

I’m used to watching this on VHS, but I think we can all agree that the new scan is a revelation based on the trailer.

I've just received confirmation from Gorilla Pictures that Vinegar Syndrome are 100% releasing Sidekicks on 4K!

My friend and I used to get stoned and watch this movie all the time. Some scenes and quotes are simply hilarious, and we still bring them up today. Easy day 1 purchase, even if they release the edited version found on streaming.

Haha nice to hear it has nostalgia for someone else too. I would be surprised if it was edited in anyway, not when it is coming from VS.

Did the mattress guy who funded this movie with $9 million make a return on his investment? It does not sound like he went broke because of it.

The movie made 17 million worldwide and did ok on video I reckon. He still likes to make big bets on the horses, so I think he is thankfully doing just fine.

Rough release date for Sidekicks and extras confirmed to be in progress. They are hoping to interview Chuck and Aaron Norris.

Sworn To Justice also confirmed for Blu Ray before end of year.

Yo man, just wanted to let you know that our conversation in the Kino spurred me to stop at my local Total Whine, where I was last successful finding MGD. Sure enough they had one twelve-pack of bottles, which I snagged and enjoyed this Labor Day weekend.

Certainly a decent brew and one I'd have no problem drinking whenever, but you can still count me as a High Life guy.
