Default 52W3000 ISF Calibration Complete

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all SONY model TV's.

To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?

Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

I also posted this on AVS:

EDIT: I've added the calibration reports showing D65

I had my 52W3000 ISF calibrated this morning by Spencer Sight and Sound in Telford, PA. Overall I am happy with the final settings. Was it worth the $350.00, I'm on the fence about that. Black levels and color were improved the most. I was a little concerned on some of the settings the tech choose, but over all the picture is really clean.

Here are the settings he used after calibration:

HDMI

Picture-Custom
BackLight-8
Picture-87
Brightness-50
Color-61
HUe-R1
Color Temp-Neutral
Sharpness-33
Noise Reduction-Off
MPEG NR-Off

Advance Settings
Black Corrector-Off
Advance CE-Off
Gamma-Off
Clear White-Off
Color Space-Wide
Live Color-Off
Detail Enhancer-Low
Edge Enhancer-Off

White Balance
RGain 0
GGain 0
BGain -6
RBias 10
GBias 2
BBias -10

Power Saving-Low
Light Sensor-Off

I hope this helps some people...........and maybe even saves someone $350.00

If anyone has any settings for a Sony 40xbr-2 with a PS3 I would appreciate it. Cnet has one but I didn't really like it.

Heres my setup for Sony KDL-40V3000 with PS3 using HDMI:

I used the THX optimiser on The Lion King Special Edition DVD as the Ratatouille Blu-ray wasn't going well.....

First heres my PS3 settings:

Cinema Conversion: AUTO
DVD Wide display: LETTER BOX
DVD Upscaler: NORMAL
BD/DVD Video Output ( HDMI ) : YPb/Cb/CR
BD 24HZ Output: AUTO
Dynamic Range: AUTO
Output Format: Linear PCM
Cross Colour Filter: OFF
RGB Full Range: FULL
YPb/CbPR/CR Super White: ON

Heres The TV settings: ( I like a really Vivid picture )

CUSTOM

Backlight: MAX
Picture: MAX
Brightness: 44
Colour: 50
Hue: 0
Temp: COOL
Sharpness: 40
Noise Reduction: OFF

Black Corrector: HIGH
Advanced Contrast: HIGH
Gamma: HIGH
Colourspace: WIDE
Live Colour: HIGH
Detail: HIGH
Edge: OFF

Light Sensor: ON

I find that these two products set up with these settings together give some of the best images I have ever seen. I use the same tv settings for my HD satellite receiver and normal cable.... All look great !

TV: KDL-46v3000
INPUT THROUGH HDMI: bdp-s300 and an xbox360
Viewing distance: varies from 5 to 10 feet approximately
Room Lighting: not much lol so i would guess dim, i have 1 lamp usually noton, 1 window, and one fan with a blue neon light dealgoing on.

originally i had used the disney calibration on the blu-ray and just playing with the settings, but i am a bit of a perfectionist (ocd i am told), so i spent almost a month researching through this site and the web on what all my settings ACTUALLY do, optimal settings, opinions, input sources etc.... and arrived at this.

mine: custom mode

backlight: min
picture: 90
brightness: 50
color: 50
hue: 0
color temp: warm 1
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg noise reduction: off
drc mode: off

advanced setttings:
black corrector: off
advanced c.e. : off
gamma: off
clear white: off
color space : wide
live color: off
white balance: factory default
detail enhancer: off
edge enhancer: off

also i went to my RGB Dynamic Range and made that FULL instead of AUTO

these settings work well at delivering a great image for all my media, blu looks great, sddvd upconvert is more tolerable, and what i perceived to be a blurring effect on the factory settings is gone. i am still considering saving up for a professional calibration because from what i have read no matter how much you tweak they can effect changes to truly optimize what your tv can do.

p.s.

just wanted to say thanks crackin, you gotta be one of the most helpful dudes on this site, A+ on this set of threads and it is definitely appreciated.

I am a happy owner of the Sony Bravia LCD KDL-V32XBR1. I am using a Yamaha dvd-s657 progressive scan player via Acoustic Research PROII series Component Cables, (progressive scan is ON) all the video settings of the Yamaha are at factory settings....exept the "black corrector" which, according to the manual, you are suppose to turn ON for NTSC set ups.....

ok, on to my settings... I decided to go with DVE, (as opposed to Avia) for 2 reasons.... one, it is newer 2003, (vs. 1999 avia) and two, it's considerable less expensive..... this is important, i think, only because there has to be a Better Calibrating Disk that is coming soon specifically for LCD's....(i hope anyway) I read somewhere that Avia has a new one for 2006.... anyway using the DVE calibrating disk, I did my calibrations at night with NO ambient light. (typically when I watch movies.)

I would be very interested in seeing calibrations for a kds-60a2000 with a bdp-s1 hooked up to it. I have a well lit room so any help in that department would be great too.

I could use this with a PS3, same TV. I used the Ratatouille calibration, but am sure it could be better.

Alright, got the TV ISF Calibrated but I forgot to write down the settings and bring them to work with me today to post sooo....I will either post tonight or tomorrow. HUGH improvement though I will say.

I did not know what to expect but I can clearly see how much more natural everything looks compared to previously.

I did some A/B comparison between the "Vivid" setting that comes from Sony and the calibrated settings and this is what I found.

Faces have alot more detail and arnt as washed out. Also skin tones are much more natural. I watched Planet Earth and compared to the "Vivid" preset on the Sony its doesnt have as much of a WOW factor in the sense of colors popping off the screen. However details are much clearer.

Whenever you look at the little details, there are times when mountains or trees are completely dark from shadows and you cant see ANYTHING on the vivid setting, then when switched to the calibrated setting all of those details come to light and you can see them clearly.

Over all Im very happy with it. Its not quite as stunning but I think thats because the OVER exagerated colors are gone and Im actually seeing what was recorded. Will follow up soon.
