WESTINGHOUSE: Share Your Custom Display Settings

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all WESTINGHOUSE model TV's.

To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?


Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

Disc Calibrated Setting (Digital Video Essentials)
Video Input: HDMI from Samsung 1400 Blu-ray Disc Player
Room Lighting: Dim

1. Brightness 44
2. Contrast 74
3. Saturation 53
4. Hue 0
5. Color Temp Neutral
6. Sharpness 0
7. Aspect Ratio Standard
8. Backlight 60
9. Reset No

Slight changes to Saturation and Hue, while the Color Temp is changed to Neutral.

I got a 37 last year about a 1 and a half a 37' and it was great until the 55 came.

Oh i paid 599 for 1080p LCD back on Black Friday.

I love my Westinghouse monitor. They are indeed excellent for the price, and they produce a beautiful image. I may consider purchasing another one to be used as the monitor for my computer in the future. I did have my PC hooked up to it for a while and it was awesome!

lol thats a good deal, the four 42's we bought I guess were fire sales we got one for like 700 or 800 so for guest rooms its worth it

It already looked good, it's definitelly better now. I use an HTPC for blu ray and the picture is amazing. Everyone saying Westinghouse sucks, has never actually seen one. When I got this about 1 1/2 yrs ago, it was the ONLY 37" 1080p set. I know there are better looking sets, but at the price level (and maybe even a little higher) of this tv, no other set can touch the picture quality.

My brother in-law got a 47" vizio and I told him how good blu ray looks. He has a PS3 and I suggested he get the Justin Timberlake BD (don't judge me, the PQ is out of this world). He got it and we watched it and the PQ is nowhere near as clear and crisp as it is on my Westinghouse. I felt bad, so I told him it looked awesome.

Hi,
First post.
I own a WESTINGHOUSE 52" LCD 1080P TV and I have the BDP-X1 hooked up to it. The Picture looks good. However, I'm not getting that true blue ray DVD PICTURE that you see on tvs at retail stores.

The picture looks like a regular HD DVD,but not like a BLUE RAY picture.

I have it connected to an HDMI MONSTER CABLE I bought at BB with the fastest rating.

I have also downloaded the firmware update for the BDP-BX1 and still not getting a TRUE BLUE RAY picture.

I'm starting to think that it's my tv and not the BLUE RAY,but when the DVD is in the Menu screen showing the movie scenes in the background. The scenes look like TRUE BLUE RAY PICTURE. However,when the movie starts to play,it loses that BLUE RAY look.

I have tryed the MOVIES: HANCOCK and TROPIC THUNDER.
They look amazing when playing at the stores,but not the same picture on my TV.

have called TV MANUFACTURES HELP DESK and they have no clue of how to FIX IT.

I NEED HELP BEFORE MY TIME TO RETURN THE BDP-BX1 EXPIRES.

Go to Official sony Bdp-300-301 owners Thread - AVS Owners Forum. You will find me involved in a discussion re the exact same issue. It.s very hard to get folks to take it seriously and difficult to get your mind around all the variables.

Anyway I have a Westy 1080p as well and I am begining to think we have a set-up problem re the backlight adj and the fact that I'm sending all my vid sources to the Westy thru 1 hdmi connection. That means eash source is presented with the same set up relitive to brightness, contrast,saturation and backlight.

Read the thread refered to and give me your thoughts. Did you exchange your BR machine and if so how did that work out? Sorry it took me so long to get on to the fact we both are dealing with the same issue with essentially the same HDMI Receiver.

I tried all kinds of setting changes to improve the picture quality on my 47" Westy. I finally just had to realize that it was never going to cut it at my main viewing screen... so I moved it to my gameroom and got a Samsung for my main room.

If you have a Westinghouse as I do (47" LCD 1080p), you likely tend to notice that it isn't quite as good as the higher priced LCDs. So, after research and developing a blister on my thumb I came up with these two settings:

A warm and rich look:

(from a B.Buy blog)

Bright - 48
Contr - 48
Saturation - 56
Sharp - 33
Backlight - 80
Temp - Warm (with these slight
adjustments / Red - 132 Green - 128 Blue - 138)

(I like this one for the history channel)

A soft and cool look:

(my own recipe)

Bright - 52
Contrast, Sat & Hue - 50
Sharp - 27
Backlight - 90
Temp - Cool
Skin Tone - 50
Dynamic Contrast - OFF

(I like this one for House, music performances & sci-fi)

Believe the hype: an upgraded power cord does help with the sharps and blacks.

So, try those out and you may be able to milk the mid-fi!

i have a LVM42w2

im always trying to change my settings to get the setting that best suits be, but i never seem to be 100% satisfied, but i think thats because im a very indecisive person..

But this is the best picture i got that satisfies my taste..but then again im probably going to find something wrong with it..[lol i really need a picture calibrating software]

Brightness: 43 [anything above 45 looks washed out]
Contrast: 80-90 [the picture looks nice and more bold around these settings]
saturation: 70-75
hue: -10-0 [helps balance out the oversaturated Reds, and helps make the greens more vibrant, since theyre undersaturated IMO]
Backlight: 35-50
Sharpness: 5
Color Temp: Neutral [gives the blue i need, and having a good balance with red green and blues..]

I did use warm a lot before. But i noticed that the picture was more red/orange dominant, with a lack of white and blues, and the black levels didnt seem as deep as i wanted. Maybe theres a way to make the settings perfect for the warm temperature..but im too lazy to do any video adjustments for that temperature.

anyone got some recommendations?

I'm reviving an ancient thread. I own a Westinghouse VR4625 and have used some of the settings suggested in this thread. My tv doesn't have a backlight, hue, or saturation option. Weird cause I bought my tv in 2012.
