Default Fast Forward Progress Bar

Anyone notice some movies have their own built in (I guess?) progress bar that pops up when you fast forward? It does this ON TOP OF the PS3's fast forward progress bar. Kinda annoying because I can't read either one since they are like that.

Movie Example - 30 Days of Night

Can one be turned off or am I missing something obvious here?

I think Sony is the only studio to do this so far. I don't like it either when using it on the PS3. I don't believe there is a way to turn it off.

yeah I saw Vantage Point today, and I had to rewind a couple times cause I missed parts cause my dog was acting up and I had to calm her down and stuff, but yeah I thought it was weird how there was the white somewhat "stylized" fastforward/rewind bar at the bottom, while I had the fastforward/rewind bar at the top of the screen from my blu ray player, quite annoying and uneeded to have 2 bars on the screen.

Fox has done this, Paramount has it on Cloverfield, Warner has it on their recent catalogs, and Universal for sure has it as I just got done watching The Mummy Returns.

The progress bar is also implemented on the recent titles from Lionsgate and it looks cool to me.

The Dogma one is weird because it makes noise and is actually louder than the movie itself. I usually don't mind it, but the noise part of it is annoying. I also noticed it on Across the Universe, but that one is kinda cool.

The standard progress bar shows up, too? How is it that I've never noticed that? Unless its a problem with the coding on some specific titles. But I really don't remember ever seeing the standard PS3 one on discs that used BD-J created progress bars.

It does and makes either one hard to view correctly. I have seen it on only two titles lately mainly because I don't FF or RW often, if at all. I just happen this time to turn it off, go do something and come back and had to FF a bit.

It happens if you pause, play, rewind, fast forward. I have noticed it on all new releases such as:

The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
Cloverfield

I just picked up the Mummy movies today and noticed that the packaging and the insert inside the case bragged about the special fast forward progress bar.
