Default A tour of the JL Audio factory (loads of pics of Gotham assembly)

http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/199...-tour-pictures

Why does the Gotham cost so much? Well, they use a new $200 drill bit in the drilling of each enclosure for a start!!

Read on, great pics and captions.

They use the drill bit only once and then chuck it!

I can't even afford the drill bit!!
Ha, ha.

But, in a few years, I'd very much like to add JL to my home theatre.

Cool, I was invited to check out SVS a while back. They are built in my neck of the woods, never got around to it at the time (working). I wanted to pick up the sub in person but in the end, went in a different direction.

Well-timed what with Brain's "minor" upgrade thread.

I was showing these to a coworker today who was just in awe. One thing I noticed the second time around is that the magnets on those subs are absolutely ENORMOUS!

Wait a minute, Miramar - FLORIDA?! I'm right there. I didn't know it was right here.

That's what I asked Brain to do. Please find out who this customer is. I will start packing and move in with him/her. Hopefully it is a "her".

The factory photos are great. I love my Fathom f113--it is the audio centerpiece of the home theatre. The quality is stunning, and it's easy to see why in the factory tour. Thanks for posting!

If I had to trade in my sub for another, I could see it being one of those(g113).
I really enjoyed those tour photoes.

I can understand why the Gotham is so expensive. I used to work as a CNC programmer and i can tell you first hand, many of the bits we used were AT LEAST $200 per bit. The part that suprised me was that they are only used once! Tolerance is everything though, and i can understand that. JL Audio puts out solid products, period. I love my W7's!
