My SVS PB13-Ultra will be delivered tomorrow (talked to the freight company today). I'm so stoked!!

I'll be sure to post pics of the wife on the floor after she sees the size of the box.

Have some flowers ready in case you don't want to sleep on the couch.

I think you should keep this sub and build a new one from scratch. Two subwoofers in a room work a lot better in taming the standing waves.

Nice! At least it's not the cylinder version... Your wife would be on her way to the hospital in that case!

Report back when you stop listening to it for a second

This is my sub, the Epik Conquest which has an 18" driver and a 1000 watt Bash Amp:

I am reluctant to post my system until I move, however, I will be posting my Turntable system shortly, once it is completed.

How much does that monster weigh? How did you move it around to find the optimum position for it?

This monster weighs in at about 200 pounds and about 350 pounds crated. We had a dickens of a time unloading it and getting it out of the crate and into the living room.

Unfortunately, I have a small living room (about 11' X 12') until I move. So, it is placed in basically the only available spot at this point, so it is not optimized, but we did adjust the output to match the other speakers in the system. I could slide the sub on the carpet and placed the footers under it once we set the unit in place. Optimum or more optimized placement will need to wait till I move and either build a house and prepare a room or buy a house and build a room (I would like something about 20' X 35' preferably with a 10' ceiling). This is why I do not want to post the home theater until it is ready, though I may post some of the equipment without really showing how it is set-up in the room.

I can recommend some good chiropractors.

I would love to see pictures of your finished turntable.

With the upgrade, I went from a paper cone to what B&W calls a Rohacell cone, as well as new electronics, all of which are a better match for my front three speakers. The deep bass was tighter and I could hear detail and "feel" detail and punch better than before. I'm really impressed with these Rohacell cones. Anyone else enjoying them?

Is this sub as big and as heavy as the B&W center channel speaker? I hope you don't mind me asking this question. What is the cost of this sub? If you don't want to answer, it is OK.

Once I put this big sub on top of the footers (rather than flat on the floor) along with my really good sub cable it helped to reduce any standing waves and it put out a tremendous amount of clean bass that was quite deep and amazingly fast.

Now you are making me jealous. I am going to build a 21" subwoofer pretty soon just to beat you.

This is the Driver I have in mind.

List Price: $1,180.82 EA
Special Price: $781.71

I may have to buy a truck load full of MDF wood to fit this driver.

I don't want to know how much an excellent 21" driver costs. You uploaded the photo and price just as I was typing this, but that is sure going to be a really big and heavy box that you will need a crane to lift and move. Any idea as to how low this will go and what is available that puts out sound at about 6 or 8? HZ?

One layer, MDF; then a coat of roofing tar/mirror mastic; then another layer of MDF; another coat of tar; then furniture grade oak plywood.

Of course, a two square foot chunk of that weighs about 40 pounds, but it wouldn't flex if an elephant stepped on it. Which is about the equivalent of putting this driver on it.

This rotary subwoofer from Eminent Technology goes down to 1Hz. The total cost with installation is close to $27,000.

That Driver might not be the best option for an HT sub, it's a pro-sound driver frequency response is set up for 30-1000Hz. Huge Roll off under 30Hz if you take a look at the spec sheet on it. Not saying it wouldn't be fun to try though, just might not be the best investment for a DIY subwoofer. Might be fun for a Horn for some outdoor concerts though.
