United Kingdom Saving Private Ryan audio sync problem....

I know this is now being talked of in the Private Ryan thread but this issue is important enough to deserve its own thread to get people's attention.

Anyone picking this up this week, or having already received it please check the following....

From chapter 15 the audio goes out of sync. From the clan telling each other stories, to Ryan's one-on-one talk with Tom Hanks it is glaringly noticeable. Continues for the rest of the movie.
The finale at the grave rams home that its definitely defective. Check out the lip-synching between Ryan and his wife.

How this got through quality control I don't know. But can everyone check their discs and confirm they have the issue so we can at least get an idea as to whether it is indeed every copy?? Also where they got their disc from.

Mine was from play.com

I'll be amazed if there's not some sort of admission and replacement program very soon. We need to get this issue out in the open so it can be seen by the powers that be asap so please reply to the thread everyone.

Hi

I've checked mine and it seems OK throughout the film. I am playing on a Denon 3800BD with a delay of 50ms. Maybe try a replacement disk from Play.

Unfortunately I do have a major picture issue though (separate thread).

I will say that in general, the whole Blu Ray audio sync experience for me has been painful. It's a joke when you press stop on most disks to access the player's Set Up menu, make adjustments to the audio delay and then, instead of resuming where you had left the film you have to go through minutes of reloading from the beginning. And if the adjustments you make are not quite right, you do it all again.

Same problem here. If I delay the audio by 75-100ms I can no longer tell that it's there. It's very annoying once you've noticed it. I'm not using a receiver or anything like that, just PS3 into TV.

Disc from Amazon.co.uk

Just checked my disc for this and yes it does appear to be there from chapter 15 onwards. Disc was purchased from Lovefilm.

Yes the audio problem is definitely there. I already posted about this in the other SPR thread - but you're right it does deserve it's own thread so people know about it.

As people have said - once you know about it (and it's pretty obvious when watching it) then it's just annoying. How the hell did this get through quality control???? Hopefully Paramount will offer some kind of disc replacement program. Has anyone tried contacting them yet?

Had this problem with Don't Mess With The Zohan. Lip sync went out, then if you paused it and re started it, it was back as normal.....
Very odd. I've had to put a huge delay on my Harman Kardon Reciever for Blu-Ray. Generally the setting is ok for all discs. Though there are some that require a bit of a fiddle to tie up audio and visuals correctly.
Hope this is a temporary problem with Ryan. I was going to rush out and get it as soon as i'm paid this week, but sadly, i'll have to hold off now and see what happens

Well I watched SPR on my PS3 and as I've said elsewhere for the first 2 hours or so there's no audio problems, only from chapter 15 onwards. Also my PS3 has the latest firmware (downloaded an update just last week) so seems unlikely to be a PS3 problem.

It is definitely NOT out of sync on my Pioneer BDP-lx91

hassle Sony for a firmware fix.
Haven't watched the whole film but I watched all of chapter 15 and no problems.

Hmm okay so I guess it's a problem with Sony firmware - perhaps it's a layer change fault?!

I think we can conclude that its a Sony FW issue?

Possibly.... I have the same problem on my PC, but the BD drive is a Lite-On, which I think uses the same components as Sony drives, but I'm not sure.

edit: @perkolanesi - is that with English audio?

Can't even find an email address myself. The only one on the website is info@paramountpictures.co.uk, which specifically excludes home media enquiries.

Here we go:

Paramount Pictures
12 Golden Square
London
W1A 2JL
T 020 7534 5200
F 0207 534 5202
http://www.paramount.com

The number definitely works. Could those who are having problems with the titles please make it known to Paramount so they can see if its a Sony or a pressing issue?
