i could possibly seeing myself watch 4 and 5 at some point in the future, but i will never watch 3 and 2 again.

ST2 is absolute shit, but it's a low-budget horror movie and not really anything like the others and isn't even referenced in 3, which itself is a somewhat disconnected spin-off of the first, that only features Rico and the captured Brain-Bug. In retrospect, I think that 2 only got made because Sony needed to do something to keep the film rights and 3 certainly would have been made in place of 2, if they had the time and budget to cook it up back then.

It was written and directed by Ed Neumeier, so I think that's unlikely. Although I remember it not being very good, it definitely felt like his work.

Did they update the regular edition with the Dolby Vision disc, or is that still exclusive to the Steelbook? Seems odd to have 2 different discs in circulation unless they still had a bunch left over.

I fraking hate these low effort overpriced steelbook offerings that studios have been doing.

I do not care for the boutique labels pricing either, but at least they are generally producing substantive releases.

For the love of God, I bought it second hand a few days ago because I was tired of waiting. My consolation is that I managed to avoid scalpers (actually I paid less than its current price) and couldn't care less about the steelbook itself (relocated the discs to a proper case).

Buyer beware: Some "re-pressed" steelbooks are actually returned items that have been tampered with and resold.

I've experienced this problem twice through Amazon purchases. The first steelbook arrived with the digital code missing, and the second (a Zorro title, if I recall correctly) contained standard Amaray case discs instead of the proper steelbook discs, because apparently some enterprising customer thought a disc swap was a fair trade.

When I returned these defective products, I informed Amazon about the tampering issue. However, I suspect they don't care as long as their trains are running on time. They likely just repackage returns or send them back to the distributor without proper inspection.

The only solution I've found is to buy early, and from boutiques like Atomic, Orbit, etc. Obviously that's tough when it's an Amazon exclusive, which only seems to exacerbate the issue. Nothing quite like having your only purchase option be the same marketplace where the problem originates.

I'd imagine the fact that this in stock in multiple places now should indicate it's from the new reprint line, not returns. Appreciate the heads up, but everything appears to be in order here. Threw the disc on and went through each chapter to make sure everything was good. Didn't notice any issues.
