That would definitely take the enjoyment out of making a movie, with that constantly on the crew's mind probably. Stunt people put a lot on the line with their jobs, often breaking bones and the occasional mistake here and there, though great planning and safer stunts can prevent it.

During filming, Jovovich's stunt double, British stuntwoman Olivia Jackson, was severely injured when her motorcycle collided with a camera crane, leaving her in a medically-induced coma for two weeks. She had been riding at high speed without a helmet, leading to the accident ripping off half her face, and crushing her facial bones.[28] Among Jackson's injuries were cerebral trauma, a crushed face, a severed artery in her neck, a paralyzed arm, several broken ribs, a shattered scapula, a broken clavicle, torn fingers with a thumb that needed to be amputated, and five nerves torn out of her spinal cord.[29] The camera crane had malfunctioned and failed to move out of the way. Jackson announced in December 2015 that her paralyzed left arm will need to be amputated.[30] Her arm was amputated above the elbow.[28]

A second accident occurred during filming on December 3 when crew member Ricardo Cornelius was crushed to death by one of the film's props, a U.S. Army issue Hummer, while on set.[31][32] The Hummer was placed on a rotating platform, and fell off, crushing Cornelius, who was assisting with the scene, against a wall. He later died in hospital.[33]

I'm surprised by the following, though worldwide is where the movie made its money:
As of March 5, 2017 Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has grossed $26.7 million in the United States and Canada and $267 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $293.9 million, against a production budget of $40 million.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residen..._Final_Chapter

I don't mind that Afterlife and Retribution really don't have a story and they're more like watching a videogame. I thought the action was very stylish (especially with the slow motion, I never get tired of that ), the effects were great and the native 3D was excellent. The Final Chapter really was an anti-climax for me...
Good point.

WTH. Looks like this may not have a 3D release. The Target pre-order (like Underworld Blood Wars) is only showing 4K and blu-ray. If true, that's two purchases Sony won't be getting from me. 3D or nothing.

Disappointing but what I expected after they dropped 3D from Underworld. Disney of course passes on 3D Blu on a ton of titles, and Universal had before on a couple, but we're starting to see most other major studios follow suit with Fox (Trolls), Paramount (Ben-Hur), and now Sony; I think WB is the only one with a basically perfect track record (they didn't release Creed, but that was added two months into the theatrical run and clearly a cheap/rushed conversion).

A worrying trend, but probably the way things are going, hopefully at least the big titles will get 3D Blus for a while. As for Sony, I would also expect Smurfs: The Lost Village not to get a 3D release, hopefully Spider-Man: Homecoming does (ideally a 4k/3D combo) but if that doesn't, we'll know Sony has dropped 3D blu support.

The 3D version is still listed on amazon.com and bestbuy.com, but not sure till it shows a release date. Best Buy has 3 blu ray versions, blu ray 3D/4K, 4K/blu ray Steel book, and regular blu ray.

Sadly I think Target is usually the first to get the proper information on these. The Artwork on Amazon for Underworld Blood Wars just shows 4K now, whereas Best Buy still has 3D listed. Amazon will probably switch over Resident Evil once they receive the artwork.

Looks like my next Blu-ray player will need to be a region free player if this pattern continues.

For SONY, at least, there will be other region A compatible releases available. But then there's the other shoe waiting to drop from other studios that we have to worry about.

The incompetence of the A/V business continues. Helluva way to spur VR sales. "Hey, we've added 3D Blu to our VR system. We may also no longer provide 3D Blus to watch on them!" And they wonder why electronic sales are plummeting.

Huge disappointment if they do drop 3D from this one.

I think they'll also start to see the 4K+3D+Blu see a decline if they drop the 3D portion of these combos.

Sony seemed to be on the right track with their combos, but now to eliminate 3D completely?

I also think the timing would be weird, since they just added 3D support to the PSVR.. that's another million 3D displays out there.

Bestbuy.com's website I've learned is not very accurate with their information; one example being after the best buy online customer service "confirmed" Easy Rider 3D blu ray with Jack Nicholson was planned and the correct information on the site when I questioned its listing. No such 3D version ever existed.

Target may have the right information if they're changing their items before the release date ahead of the other stores.

But I agree, if Sony offers PSVR Blu ray support on PS4, and then starts dropping support for blu ray 3D, they need to get their home entertainment divisions to coordinate with one another, which doesn't always happen with a big corporation.

If this Final Chapter 3D blu ray doesn't hit the US market, I'll avoid importing it, as the mild 3D through much of it didn't look much better than 2D. Thankfully there are a few medium layered 3D shots here and there that look decent.

Yeah, I'm not sure of Sony's move here, either, if they're wanting to move UHD discs. If I want the 3D version, then I'm not going to purchase the 4K version; I'll just import. The least they could do is have a separate BD release.

Making a big mistake, Sony.

Waiting to see if Best Buy is getting an exclusive deal on this one, too.

At least that would be something. Here's hoping Sony arranged something with Best buy for 3D fans considering they just offered blu ray 3D support for PSVR. The UK version I won't be able to get as I don't have blu ray 3D players for region B yet, but it's a sign the UK and foreign 3D market is larger than the US for home 3D.

Sony is usually region-free, aren't they?

If the movie companies don't actually want us to break encryption and rip our blu-rays to a media server, then maybe they should consider actually selling the same stuff in the US that they do in other countries?

Luckily (for us in the US, anyway), it's usually cheaper to buy the UK release anyway. Thanks, brexiters.

Hard to understand why they don't throw the 3D release in with the 4K if they've already done the work to master it for another market. Even if that only boosts sales 2-3%, that's got to more than cover the pennies it costs them to press another disc... and if eBay is any indication, there's a pretty strong secondary market for people to resell the 3D discs solo, so there's added value even if you don't want the 3D disc.

4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + UltraViolet Pre-order just went active @ Blu-ray.com with a May 16, 2017 release.

Amazon doesn't mention 3D in the title listing again., and this time lists the Number of discs: 2. Hope Blu-ray 3D + 2D is on one disc with 4K on the other.

The whole time these have been out, I've gotten Underworld mixed up with Resident Evil and vice versa. In any case, I don't care about any stupid 2D copy even if it's in 4K (and I can play those now), only buying for 3D or not at all.
