Angry Astro Boy (2009) [No 3D Blu-ray]

My son and I Really enjoyed this movie and it looks like it will get some kind of 3D treatment soon. I was in Best Buy watching the Panasonic 3D demo tonight and Astro Boy starts to play. It looked great... So I came home and googled and found this: http://3dvision-blog.com/stereo-3d-t...-for-download/

This title hasn't been announced yet, but is likely to be released sometime early next year.

I don't know why they would even bother with this title, it made about 2/3rds of it's budget back, 40 Million WW Box Office/$65 Million Budget, not including the marketing. - It just dumping money down a rat hole at this point.

How many 3D disc would you sell? 1,000?

It didn't even do well in Japan because it was too much of a departure from the real Atom. IMAGI, the company that made it is in serious financial trouble and has a well underway Gatchaman movie just sitting around unfinished.

The disc might still happen, but it would probably show up as some kind of packin

I'd like to see it. I never saw this movie and don't know anything about it really. But I saw a little of it on an in store 3D demo and I thought it looked pretty cool.

I've seen some adds saying coming to 3d blu-ray soon. I think it'll likely be out sonner rather then later.

Yes, and there were ads 5 years ago for Lawrence of Arabia, Team America and many others

I know that it's been talked about, but it's not even on a schedule yet. If it does come up it'll be because there were good 3D sales at Christmas and they hope to cash in on the low amounts of 3D content

Your deffinatly right there. I just don't see why the collapse of the company (so to speak) which from memory happened a while ago would affect and add that I beleive only was released recently. In any case despite having not seen the film I hope it gets a release soon as the more 3d content the btter.

IMAGI's fortunes have been very up and down, I don't see Gatchaman having the ability to pull them out of the nosedive, sadly. I'm sure that Paramount would take any new TMNT CG movie in-house as well.

Horrible movie, but excellent 3D and one of the best commercial theatre D-Box releases as well.

Was it in 3-D? This was way back at the beginning, and our theater only had one 3D screen at the time, so only caught the 2D release, and came out thinking, "Why wasn't this in 3-D"?

It is in 3D and it was one of the movies that made the demo rounds at the launch of 3D for the home. Don't know why it hasn't been released yet. I saw it in 2D and didn't think it was bad.

It was barely a blip in theaters (partly because of October, partly because of no 3D in most markets, and partly because Delgo had just left the sting of bad indie-CGI in our mouths), so the release company cut their losses--Too bad, too, as it was actually a surprisingly good kids' sleeper.

Summit studios was releasing this one on their own, so darn, if it was a major studio like Universal or Sony, they'd be double-, triple- and quadruple-dipping this one for their Family catalog demographic, including the B3D.
As it is, all we've got is one YouTube clip.

(Is D-Box still around? I know this was a couple years ago, but seemed like it did the fastest disappearing act since Showscan, unless something like Immortals is now playing it...)

its adding theatres all the time. They arent going anywhere. We are presently still showing Reel Steel in Dbox, some theatres will be showing Immortals starting today and the next movies comming up are Sherlock Holmes 2 and Mission Impossible GP

I liked the movie enough to keep it in my collection instead of trading it in but I don't think I'd be willing to double dip on it.
