Default Would you want any of the following rereleased with a good transfer?

Some of you may already own the following and not want to double dip, some of you might buy them again anyways. Some of you may be like me, waiting for a decent transfer or a release with the cut you want. Not sure why some of these can't use branching and offer both a directors cut and theatrical release. Don't get me wrong 99% of the time I prefer the DC but in a couple of cases I think the theatrical release was better.

The collector's edition of Blade Runner already includes the theatrical version, I do believe.

bingo. heck, the collector's edition includes, like, 5 different cuts of the film.

Reasonably priced, too. Definitely a great movie to have in my collection.

Yeah, I think I got it for $12.99 on sale at Target last year. A ridiculous price for an amazing release.

"The Italian Job" definitely needs a better transfer.

I haven't seen either "Lethal Weapon" movies or "The Fugitive" on BD, but I read that they have iffy PQ. If they make those better, I'd be more willing to buy them.

"Ronin" and "The Terminator" could also be better, but I'm mostly happy with the way they are now. I got the 1080p version of "T3," so I'm happy enough with that.

I'm very happy with "Amadeus" and "Blade Runner" as they are in their theatrical cuts (or the many BR cuts). I also remember "Sahara" and "Fantastic 4" looking darn sharp, even if they have one or two issues.

I think "The Fantastic 4" and "Ronin" should include all the extras from their respective 2-disc DVD Special Editions (I wouldn't buy them, since I kept them with the BD versions, but it would probably make other people happy).

The big question should be, when can we expect better versions of "Ong Bak," "Ichi the Killer," "Gojirra," "Dreamscape," and the other really REALLY bad BDs?!

Are you sure they have a theatrical cut for Amadeus? I'll be buying it today if they have a BR edition that is the theatrical release. As far as I know it was only released on BR in the director's cut and a DVD release of the theatrical cut. I've seen both and found the director's cut depressing and very very very slow moving without the music to keep the scene's progressing. The theatrical release is one of my favorite movies. The Director's cut wouldn't even make my top 2000 list.

Only The Terminator for me, as the UK version of Termiantor 3 I hear is excellent and the other films don't interest me that much.

Oops, I didn't mean to infer that. "Amadeus" is indeed the DC, but I don't mind it (I don't think...it's been a long while since I saw it on DVD, which I believe was the DC cut too ).

Looks like it's time for a re-watch!

The original is like a quality movie. The DC is like a spanish soap opera minus the wind blowing in the hair of the long haired man standing in the doorway.

none of the 8 of these I own are so awesome as to merit a double dip for a minor improvement.

That being said, you've now given me pause over Amadeus. I haven't watched my BD yet, but I really enjoyed the film on DVD, many times. Unfortunately, I gave away the DVD when I bought the Blu. I can't say that I won't like the DC, but I do know I've never seen it as it apparently contains a scene where Constanze disrobes for Salieri, and I would have remembered that

I hope the altered pacing doesn't ruin the film for me as it apparently did for you

I WOULD BUY FUGITIVE and LETHAL WEAPON movies in a HEARTBEAT if they had top tier transfers.

Fugitive is one of my fav movies all time so it is a no brainer. I have resisted buying the BD for $5... my dvd is running out of time.

PLEASE...

lol

Honestly, there's not a single good movie on that list. So if they all got new transfers it wouldn't mean anything.

I don't get this hate for the DC of Amadeus. Granted it has been a while since I saw the theatrical cut, but there aren't massive changes, just additional scenes. I think the DC is more of a lateral move than a couple people here seem to feel.

Watch it, but don't let the internet color your enjoyment or otherwise. YMMV.

I did see it. In fact as soon as the DC came out many many years ago I bought it immediately even though I already owned the theatrical release. I traded the DC in the next day.

The "added" scenes had poor lighting, didn't have much in the way of music to alter your perception of the scenes or to drive them forward - they seemed as awkward as a high school play, the camera angles were off and the quality of the transfer was dreadful as if they were filmed on someone's cheap best buy video camera - it seemed more like you were watching the "Making of Amadeus" vs. the movie itself. It seemed disjointed as you were plopped back into the well filmed scenes. And the story line is significantly altered so you have a much lower opinion of the characters in the story (not just one character).

As for seeing Stanzie's tatas - I'm a big fan but I would have preferred they just included a "Elizabeth Berridge goes Wild" as a second video in the collector's edition.

So no Internet Hyperbole then . . . a level headed, well reasoned review.

I may be in the minority in my opinion on the DC vs. the theatrical. I just wish they'd let you branch in the DC so you could watch the theatrical if you wanted to see it.

With this I agree 100%. In this day and age there is no reason not to give us the choice.

Some of the movie choices surprise me. I would have thought there would be more looking for a good release of the Fugitive.

Blade Runner and Ghostbusters definitely deserve a re-release.
