I really hope they will be region-free.

would really love to see the same digipacks as they did with Ponyo, but after Nausicaa I think i've lost the hope of an Amazing UK Ghibli Collection.

Let's see how the German releases look like

When Nausicaä was released on Amazon the pre-order price was 10.93, hopefully Amazon will give us the same deal this time.

Slightly off topic question but how do you guys pronounce Ghibli?
I've always said jib-li, probably closer to how the Japanese pronounce it. But I suppose gib-li would also work.

It's should be a soft g so 'jib'.

On the Nausicaä Blu there is an extra about the birth of the studio and briefly mentions the confusion of correct pronunciation.

Although I too pronounce it with a hard g sometimes out of bad habit.

Set both of these to high priority on Love Film. I've been working my way through Ghibli's catalog as they've been showing a lot on Film 4. Would love to see Totoro and Kiki turn up on Blu soon.

Don't think it's known yet which are the next to be released in Japan.

So far when a Ghibli film is released in Japan, it takes about 4-5 months to be released in Australia/UK.

and we still have a while to go:

1)Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
2)Castle in the Sky

3)Grave of the Fireflies
4)My Neighbour Totoro
5)Kiki's Delivery Service
6)Only Yesterday
7)Porco Rosso
8)Ocean Waves
9)Pom Poko
10)Whisper of the Heart
11)Princess Mononoke
12)My Neighbours the Yamadas
13)Spirited Away
14)The Cat Returns
15)Howl's Moving Castle
16)Tales from Earthsea
17)Ponyo
18)The Borrower Arrietty

(and I wonder in optimum will change the numbering to be chronological rather than the strange numbering they use at the moment.)

For the likes of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle I will pre-order. But these ones which aren't meant to be as good I can wait until they are around £8.

Hopefully they carry on with Slipcovers so that they look nice and uniformed. (You listening Disney?!!!)

They're only distributed by Disney in the US, we get them via Optimum. The Disney ones have nice slips and are region free, but I hear the audio isn't as good or something. Annoying! I wish they released them all like Ponyo...

Well Laputa is very good and I am tempted to buy it for 15.85... Yamadas I can wait for the price to drop.

I believe Optimum and Madman (Australia) work together on releases, both being in PAL regions and to halve costs of mastering.
