Could be interesting. I doubt it'll be any less difficult than the last spider-man games.

Reminds me quite a bit of Spider-Man 2. I sincerely hope there is a lot less swinging around town to get from mission to mission-that got very old very fast.

Thinking about it, this'll actually be the second Spider-Man movie game to feature The Lizard...as he was featured in the game for Spider-Man 3.

BUMP:

Can't believe no one is showing any love for this game considering it's going back to free roam!!

I saw a new trailer for this the other day but can't find it (I'm at work, most sites are blocked). Does anyone care to link the vid?

Looks like a lot of fun. I didn't enjoy the last Spider Man game so this looks like it's back to basics with a twist and that's what I like

Quote:
A video game based on the film was announced at the 2011 New York Comic Con. The game will be developed by Beenox, the development team behind the previous two Spider-Man games, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. During New York Comic Con a producer at Activision, Doug Header stated that the game will take place after the events of the movie.Header realizing his mixed reviews with his last video game, promising that the video game will find a different fate, thanks to its lengthy development time.

The video game has been reported to be in development by Gerard Lehiany, the creative director of Beenox. The game has an open world/free-roaming concept, where the player can "swing around" and choose a variety of side missions, challenges and mini-games in addition to the game's main storyline.Spider-Man villain the Rhino will be the main antagonist of the game. The game is set after the film, with a plot that involves a Oscorp executive, with the help of Michael Morbius accessing the research of Dr. Curt Conners (aka the Lizard) to create a hybrid of a man and a rhinoceros.

The game is planned to be released on June 26, 2012. The first concept artwork of the game was released on November 10, 2011. A world premiere trailer debuted during the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards, on December 10, 2011. The game has been developed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, personal computer, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS.

This seems to be kind of like the Captain America movie game .. at least it feels the same. And this game also seems to be using a variation of the freeflow combat system.

Im sure it will be fun but if its anything like most movie games, it will be short and easy.

I've been looking for a Spidey game of the same caliber as Arkham Asylum/City. Everything available on the PS3 seems to be getting mixed to poor reviews, as if the developer's ambition was to appease fanboys only. Or they've gotten relatively few reviews on amazon - it's always a bad sign when only 20-30 people cared enough to write something on amazon, even if they're mostly glowing, at least when it comes to such a high profile franchise as Marvel's most popular character. But, the preview above looks like this might be the one. I'm especially glad to hear it doesn't follow the movie. Whether the movie is great or not, I never like it when a game just regurgitates the same story in a new medium. Rhino looked awesome!!!

Did you notice they've gone back to free roam? I can see myself loosing hours just web swinging around the city *remembers hours wasted on Spidey 2*

I liked Spider-Man 2...I swung around the city for what seemed like hours.

I miss Tobey, but if the game gets decent reviews I may pick it up.

I'm still trying to track down a cheap copy of Edge of Time but it's still going for £20+ on eBay!

I enjoyed Tobey in Spidey 1 & 2 but hated him in 3!

I'm looking forward to the reboot/re-telling with Andrew Garfield, go British actors for getting the best roles lol!

I'm loving the look of this and from the looks of it the swinging has never looked better. His movement also adds to the swinging, this might be the best Spider-Man game yet. I might not get this on release day but I'm going to get it eventually for sure.

I have my fingers crossed that this is the best Spider-Man game! To be fair Beenox have done Spider-Man justice even though the games have been slightly weak!

Is no one getting excited for this game? I think it's out in July to coincide with the movie release!

Definitely excited! Still a bit skeptical. But I'm pretty sure I'll pick it up sooner rather than later. When and at what price, is still pending though. But right now, I'm as excited about this as anything, I think.

Free roam swinging, like mentioned above, I did for literally hours and hours. Jumping off high buildings and swinging up before I hit the ground, love it!

It actually is gonna be on store shelves this Tuesday. I haven't even seen any reviews on this thing and I'm not holding my breath. If anyone sees any reviews please post them here. I would love a great Spidey game though the track record hasn't been amazing (pun intended) with Spidey games. I think one of the reasons this is getting an early release is because it takes place AFTER the movie so it isn't going to spoil much.
