i was recently watching the planet of the apes 40 year collection and it was working last week, as soon as i updated the firmware none of them do now. They all work on my ps3 though, and ive tried to reset the blu ray player but it didnt do anything. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My advise is to give Sony a call. Hope you can get it fixed.

Did you resolve this ?
I'm having similar issue using any Blu-ray discs from "Planet of the apes - 5-film collection". As soon as the intro with the apes finished I have a blue loading screen and then a black screen. I had my bdp-s370 for more than a year and I never experienced something like that. I have the latest firmware ( M03.R.769 ) and with Sony's Support Technicians I did try the following steps with the same results:

- Use another TV set.
- Use a different HDMI cable or use a A/V cable (Red-White-Yellow).
- Unplug player for a minute and go through the Wizard.
- Use a USB flash drive in the EXT port and erase BD data.
- Set HDMI Deep Color to Off.
- Set 1080/24p Output to Off.
- Disallow BD Internet Access.
- From the Home menu with the disc in the tray, hold stop button for 15 seconds, the player downsized its display to 480p or 480i.

Any other idea or response from Sony ?

Francis

Just saw this thread and got the same result from my updated 370 with the Apes...what I did was force the player a chapter ahead from the lawgiver intro.
That got disc 1 to play, but that method failed with all of the other discs.

Looks like the update broke compatibility with the Apes. Luckily they still play fine on my PS3.

The players in the x70 line received different firmware updates.

The 470, 570 and 770 are all 3D players and share the same firmware. you can look it up on the Sony support page. But I just realized this thread is for S370 which is a none 3D player so most likely does not share the same firmware. My apoligies for the confusion.

They couldnt resolve it and came to the conclusion that its because of the update because it worked fine for me before i updated, he said they will try to update the firmware again to fix the issue with pota and some others he listed, if you guys have similar problems call them and let them know so they can release the update sooner based off demand

I have this same issue with discs 1-4 on my Sony, my old Philips plays 1-4 fine, but disc 5 "Battle", won't even be recognized by either my Sony or Philips. Anyone else have this problem?

I saw that there's a new update for our players as of October. Has anyone tried it to see if it fixed the Apes problem? I'll give it a go tomorrow night but was just curious if anyone else tried it first.

I realize this thread is a little old and there's a nearly zero percent chance of Sony fixing this. However, if I was to call and complain for entertainment purposes, which Sony# do you call?

BTY, it's 2017 and Sony has never fixed this problem.

The latest firmware I have loaded on the S370 is M03.R.804.

Default Old firmware still works for Apes

To work around this bug I just downgrade my S370's firmware whenever I want to watch Planet of the Apes (I keep a CD with the old firmware next to my Apes disks). You can downgrade the firmware of Sony BDP Blu-ray players if you're willing to use an additional program to edit the firmware files. I followed the S390 instructions from http://www.malcolmstagg.com/bdp-s390-downgrade.html to downgrade my Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player from firmware M03.R.804 to M03.R.695. Now it plays the "Planet of the Apes" Blu-rays that wouldn't play with firmware M03.R.804.
