I mistyped the date in the title.

It's supposed to be September 24, 2013. I messaged a mod to correct it.

I gave up on this season with about 3-4 episodes left. I felt I was forcing myself to watch it each week. Not even close to as good as the first season.

Did it end interesting?

I sort of got turned off after the first few episodes.

I'll pick it up when it comes out, though, and delve through it.

I'm really trying to like the first season of it, but it just drags on. The characters aren't likeable at all. I just want them all to die lol. The redhead maid (young version) is the only saving grace right now.

Second season was so much better than the first. I wanting the ending to go the opposite way it did but otherwise it was pretty fantastic

Season two was a train wreck. An interesting train wreck, but they threw just about every horror trope into a pot as the season wore on. If you didn't enjoy the first few episodes, I doubt the scattered back half would entertain you.

I've loved both seasons. Cool stuff. And Jessica Lange is great.

I love this show Agree'd that the character's aren't likeable, The Harmon family in particular. I think that's intentional though. There's a lot of different influences in American Horror Story. The main ones I would say are The Amityville Horror, The Shining, Rosemary's Baby &... well, David Lynch in general.

So, on the topic of Lynch, the characters in the show sort of remind me of plenty of the characters in Twin Peaks. They're interesting, but only a few are actually likeable. It's one of my all time favourite shows nonetheless. The Harmon family are just basically the glue to hold the show together so we get to spend time with the vastly more interesting characters (the dead) aswel as the real main character of the show which is, of course, THE HOUSE.

Nobody likes the Harmon family. Nobody. I'm sure Ryan Murphey knew that would be the case when he wrote them the way he did and picked the coldest actors he possibly could for them. Seriously, all 3 of them, not one of them are warm. It's obvious that it was intentional.

Both seasons are flawed beasts but flaws and all, it's a marvelous show. The main issue I have is that both seasons never have Finale's that live up to the build up. They both peak several times throughout the season with incredibly tense climaxes and then we're given pretty dull endings. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe Ryan Murphey and the writing team just don't plan that far ahead and when they get there, they realize that they've put too much into the rest and have nothing left to live up to the end? It's happened twice now.

The best episode of the first season was Episode 10, then the two episodes to follow were just not enough.

I think Asylum is the better of the two seasons. It's bigger, crazier, we get more likeable characters and a fascinating story. I don't really bother comparing the two though. They're two completely different things.

I thought the finale was exceptional for season 2. Season 1, not so much.

If you watch the whole season,
[Show spoiler]keep in mind what you said there!

It turned out pretty good, IMO. The 2nd season did drag on, and got really bizarre, but how they mixed in the same actors was pretty neat.
I would, at least, finish the first season then watch the first couple episodes of S2. That should let you know if you'll like it, or not.

There's no reason to wait.... season 1 and 2 are completely different stories. They don't even involve the same characters at all

I actually had the opposite opinion. While I liked the first several episodes of the series I found the middle to really drag on without much direction. It wasn't until around episode 9 that things got back on track.

I also thought the 2nd season was a complete and utter mess. Far too many "WTF?!" moments, and not in a good way.

Just some odd, odd choices being made on all fronts (directing, cinematography, editing, music, acting, writing, etc).

And I agree, the first and second halves of the season were totally disjointed and the finale was wholly unsatisfying.

[Show spoiler]Anne Frank.....really?
