Default Fan noise on the VT/ZT

Any owners of the above set Panasonic are experiencing the much discussed annoying fan noise from those display?

No.

The only time I can hear fan noise is when I turn the TV off. During normal TV viewing and movie watching, I can't hear the fans at all.

I can only tell if I'm directly in front of the tv.

I have the fan noise. It can be heard when there is no sound on Or during low volume. Cant say i heard it during bluray watching. Just requested for a replacement today. Its making a pulsating sound right now as i watch ota news with volume at 34 . It shouldnt be that loud. Tv cost way too much for a 'design flaw.' Noise comes from both right and ledt fans. Heavier on the right.

I had a vt30 and it was silent.

Forgot to state that i have a 65vt60

I received my VT60 two days ago, and I do have a inordinately faint "whirling" sound coming from one of the two fans. I am 21 years old and my hearing, I would say, is above average.

As I said, the whirling sound is exceedingly inconspicuous; I cannot hear it over my relatively quiet tower PC, which is in the same room. I cannot hear it while watching movies, sitting 7 feet away. The only time I can hear it, is if my room is one-hundred percent quiet (no A/C, no computer, no TV volume), and I have to really listen for it.

I have examined the fans with a flashlight and have noticed that there is foam surrounding all four sides of both of my fans; perhaps I received a recently built VT60 with the "foam fix" already installed. I will check tomorrow to find my build date.

I find myself being one of the lucky ones, because the sound coming from my TV is by no means a problem for me, and I am quite persnickety when it comes to my TV purchases.

Also, make no mistake this TV is god damn incredible and is by far the best TV I have ever laid eyes on (in terms of picture quality). The blacks are better than I expected and it is much brighter than my previous VT30. I would say even with a louder fan noise than I have, this TV would be worth keeping because the picture quality is just that good.

If the fan noise is too loud, you're too old. (always hated that saying) even though i'm young. I saw some people on avs forum making silencers for the fans, I personally would never attach anything like that on one. I run a regular fan in the room because it's hot here, so it will probably blend right in.

I hear it only when there is no audio. Even so, any additional noise, even if you don't register it, adds to the overall sound signature of the room. I'd rather it weren't there but given how great the picture quality is I'm willing to live with it. Or I might get the foam fix performed once I hear from someone who has had it done.

Do you think if you heard the fans upon delivery, would you reject it?

Nope. Being that Panasonic has said there is no longer any research going into plasmas, I can deal with it and wait for the supposed foam kit fix. I use it 75 percent bluray so, the majority of the time i cant hear it. but i dont want to wait for that one movie with low dialog to get a ruined experince. I would have kept my current one but a user on avs was adamant his replacement vt was quiet. Even stating he put his ear next to the fan. I gotta try once to appease my ocd. Its my money and happiness on the line afterall. Also pulled the tv out to listen to the fans up close and i can hear the infamous plasma buzz everyone talks about but its not louder than the fan noise.

I talked to Robert at Value Electronics, and he said that the foam fix is infact being distributed to consumers soon. So be patient! I am on vacation currently and cannot check the manufacturer date on my TV.

Good to know. Thanks for the info gem. I already requested for a new set so if that doesnt work out i will have to phone in tech support. Hoping it all works out. I have my fears about them opening up my tv.

I received my 55VT60 yesterday. I was pleased that my VT60 did not have any fan noise, or at least I couldn't hear it from my listening position. However, I was not pleased with the picture quality out of the box. I set the TV to the THX cinema setting and I wasn't that impressed with the performance of the TV in that mode.

Out of the box is standard mode if I recall. That is a mode I never consider to be a judging point. It is way too dim. I don't even know why they have that mode.
I have ran THX cinema right out of the start from my previous VT30 and the same with my current VT60. It looks great in my eyes, not knock you outta your seat or Sony 4K sets that we have now good, but I can see what you might mean after looking at the Sony 4k sets at my local BBY Magnolia. Try dark knight BD. I thought the night city shot really showed off the blacks. What BD did you test out?

You think the Sony X900 looks better than the VT/ZT60s?

Check your source and settings. Be sure processing modes are switched off. It's possible that you have a bad panel but it's also possible you're used to something different.

I'm used to looking at a Kuro, which is/was good out of the box. I hope I don't have a bad panel.

I did put it on THX cinema. It could be that I'm used looking at my Kuro 5020 which seems to have a sharper and brighter picture than my VT60.

I tested it on Super 8 Blu Ray. I don't have Dark Knight, however I do have Dark Knight Rises. Its is true that the set has deep blacks and I can see that, however skin tones out of the box doesn't look as good as my Kuro.
