USA The Man With No Name Trilogy (w/ Restored in 4K TGTBTU) - June 3, 2014 Pre-order

The Man with No Name Trilogy 4K Remastered
Quote:
The Sergio Leone “spaghetti westerns” did not simply add a new chapter to the genre...they reinvented it. From his shockingly violent and stylized breakthrough, A Fistful Of Dollars, to the film Quentin Tarantino calls “the best-directed movie of all time,” The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, Leone’s vision elevated Westerns to an entirely new art form. This definitive Leone collection of the most ambitious and influential Westerns ever made includes over five hours of special features that uncover buried gold in these gritty classics—plus a NEWLY REMASTERED version of The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.
Btw, 4K Restored BD has been confirmed via MGM's Press Release today:

Quote:
Additionally, several of MGM’s signature films including Rocky, Rain Man, Fargo, RoboCop and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, have been meticulously restored in 4K resolution (four times the clarity of HD) and will be presented on Blu-ray for a beautiful, high-definition home viewing experience. These re-releases will be issued through MGM’s home entertainment partner, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, and are now available for pre-order on Amazon.

[Show spoiler]UPDATE:

I've been holding myself back from posting this piece of information, but I can't hold it in any longer!

First, it was bluray-disc.de who broke the news that Fox/MGM are planning to release the new editions of Rocky and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly with "much improved quality", and now the German branch of Fox themselves has confirmed that remastered editions are indeed in the works for next year (proof below).

In case you were wondering, what German edition has to do with North America section, mind you, the German Fox and blu-ray-disc.de were among the first who reported on remastered edition of Fox/MGM's The Terminator last year Besides, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Fox would spend big bucks on remaster of the classic of this magnitude and then put the blu out in Germany/Europe only

(Despite the fact that, i'm firmly convinced it's happening, I've decided to put a question mark at the end of the thread title.)

I hope that's true. A properly transferred version of TGTBATU has been near the top of my wishlist.

While it would be nice, it would be even better if they did the whole trilogy again.

I have a feeling it's going to be coming from Criterion in North America, based on the phantom pages on their website.

Original Mono track please. I always hated the sound effect changes on the newer editions.

A Criterion release of Remastered TGTBATU would be beyond amazing!

Not to be a greedy so-and-so, but now I'm wishing for a Remastered "Man With No Name" Trilogy from Criterion.

Good news! I'm hoping for the theatrical cut with original mono as well. Now when are they releasing a remastered A Fistful of Dollars?

This could be true, but I wonder what they could possibly add to the mix. I read somewhere they turned down the chance to reissue Silence of the Lambs on BD because they felt they couldn't add anything new to the current MGM release. The current BD of TGTB&TU is pretty loaded.

The first two are the only ones I've watched so far. They are fine overall, but could use a proper cleaning. From what I read about The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, it's taken from a nearly 10 year old DVD release.

Still, don't be discouraged from watching your set. There are far worse sets out there.

I hope they include an option for the theatrical cut...the extended cut adds nothing of value, and it's too distracting to have Clint and Eli Wallach sound 40 years older in the added scenes.
