China RoboCop (2014) [No 3D Blu-ray]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RoboCop_(2014_film)

RoboCop 3D will be in most theaters February 12, 2014, about 33 days from now.

Cast (from wikipedia.com)
Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, a police detective who is injured in an explosion and transformed into the cyborg RoboCop.
Gary Oldman as Dr. Dennett Norton, the scientist who creates RoboCop.
Michael Keaton as Raymond Sellars, the villainous CEO of OmniCorp.
Samuel L. Jackson as Patrick "Pat" Novak, host of The Novak Element and prominent supporter of mechanized crime control.
Abbie Cornish as Clara Murphy, Alex's wife.
Jackie Earle Haley as Rick Mattox, a military tactician responsible for training RoboCop.
Michael K. Williams as Jack Lewis, Alex's former partner.
Jennifer Ehle as Liz Kline, the head of OmniCorp legal affairs.
Jay Baruchel as Tom Pope, the head of marketing for OmniCorp.
Aimee Garcia as Jae Kim, a scientist who works with Dr. Dennett Norton.[8]
John Paul Ruttan as David Murphy, Alex's son.
Miguel Ferrer as Antoine Vallon. Ferrer also starred as Bob Morton in the original RoboCop film where he created RoboCop.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Karen Dean, Detroit Chief of Police.
Douglas Urbanski as Mayor Durant, the Mayor of Detroit.
Zach Grenier as Senator Dreyfuss

Anyone see the 3D RoboCop trailer yet? I believe it's a hybrid conversion, using CGI 3D and 3D converted live 2D footage.

The design of RoboCop is sharp, reminds me a little of Tron Legacy's Clu uniform, and that red visor is cool.

Can't wait to see this one in 3D. The poster looks great.

No sites have listed this as a 3D release and the posters don't say anything about 3D. I think its just an imax release.

It's not 3D, but I can't imagine why ; wasn't the 3D issue the reason Aronofsky jumped ship? Sony must have a lot of confidence to release it without the surcharge... or maybe they just don't care by this point.

They're foolish not to do it in 3D. Just like the Total Recall remake should have been 3D.

The original film was a classic. An ultra violent satirical take on a future society.

This looks like a piece of rubbish and the design looks awful too. Murphy doesn't even die first, he gets saved.

Yeah it's just in 2D unfotunately I remember a long time ago that it was listed as coming out in 3d too. I'm so confused why they dropped it

Otherwise though, I'm super psyched to see the reboot! I think it's looks great and the cast they have is really strong! Plus I got free movie cash from buying the remastered bluray of the original Robocop (Drop what you're doing people and buy the remastered bluray for 8 bucks ASAP!!!!! It looks INCREDIBLE!!!) xD I do adore the original movie and it's a classic, but I'm really excited to see the new spin on the tale with the reboot

Even though it's not in 3D, the trailer still looks awesome. I'll definitely be seeing this one.

To each their own.

Not me though, I lasted about 45 minutes and we turned it off. I just really love the original. I respect the directors attempt but it's original or nothing for me on that title.

I will give robocop a chance as well, we'll see.

I still say they could have opted out of the massive reboot budgets and sunk about 2 million in to each amazing 3d conversion then rereleased in the theater. Recall would bring the dough, robocop would be hit or miss.

Very confused about this release since apparently the Chinese poster does mention a 3D release:

Yes really: http://www.impawards.com/2014/robocop_ver3.html

Probably just a fluke though.

Was thinking the same thing, though I did see this Chinese poster for the IMAX version a few months ago:

Either Sony's (or whoever's distributing in China) marketing department is messing up big time or they pushed for a conversion over there. Sony did release 2012 in 3D exclusively in China, but none the less this is confusing as hell. Leaning towards the marketing department messing up though, since not even IMAX themselves are listing a 3D release.

Unhappy

RoboCop not in 3D?

Here was one of the old links that suggested it was delayed to convert to 3D:
http://www.totalfilm.com/news/roboco...-february-2014

I swear, I was in the Cinemark theater last month, and they had a poster on the wall of Robocop, so I walked up to it and on the bottom it showed the release date of February 12, 2014, and what I swear read "Imax 3D" logo on there. Maybe it was an old poster, but it's the one where it shows Robocop in black standing there with his red visor. Is it possible they released a "Revenge of the Jedi" poster moment and then changed their minds?
I walked away from it thinking "And in 3D too, cool."

Sorry about getting any hopes up for 3D, 3D fans. I swore the poster said 3D on it. Sad move not to put this sci fi action movie out in 3D, oh well...

I'm just finding a lot archived news stories about Robocop and 3D... Guess they changed their minds if that's the case.

If the trailers don't show the 3D logo at the end, that would do it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234721/

EDIT: Just caught a RoboCop preview where he flips down his red visor and is on his sportbike, and the end credits showed nothing about 3D.

Note to Forum Moderator: Please close thread if you want. Sorry about that.

That would be awesome if it's in 3D. RoboCop looks pretty cool IMO and I swear that Robocop poster at Cinemark said Imax 3D on it. This weekend when I check out I Frankenstein 3D, I'll hopefully be on that side of the theater to snap a photo of the poster if it's still up. I wouldn't have created that thread if I didn't see some kind of 3D indicator/suggestion somewhere, though the movie trailers on TV don't even hint at 3D sadly, so it's still up in the air.
But yeah, if the Chinese Theater in LA mentioned in Imax 3D for Robocop, that is cool. Thanks Mseeley for the info.
(reposted from the 2014 3D thread). I hope that's okay Mseeley. Thanks again for the hopeful news that Robocop may actually be in 3D. I can't figure out why they wouldn't mention it unless it's a last second conversion they're not sure they can finish by the deadline?
