Emma KILLED it in that speech. I mean, consider the situation. Wow. She was just awesome, and her message was very important.

She's just too cool.
"First, a brief preface. Every time I review a film by Jean-Luc Godard, I receive outraged letters from readers who hated it. It is suggested that my reviews and myself join Godard on the trash heap of history; that the customers wuz robbed. A common complaint is that Godard 'made no sense.' And so on." -- Roger Ebert (1966)

And it was cool seeing her being a bit nervous -- you could hear it in her voice. And she's an actress! I don't know why, but I thought that was cool.

I think I would be nervous too.

Probably.

And honestly, she'll look awesome doing it.

Prince William and Emma Watson were discussing this possibility.

Woah, Russell Crowe is looking old. He could play a mean Santa Claus (in more than one sense of the word).

I really liked Emma's speech. Have mixed feeling on the response though.

I also really liked this response: http://www.blackgirldangerous.org/20...sm-speech-u-n/

The discourse is undoubtedly complicated, though I wonder

a) how much of the contents of her speech was dictated by UN priorities?

b) how much of the speech did she write herself? (It's no secret that public figures rarely write their own speeches.)

I think both of those things probably played a factor, although I hope not a lot.

What exactly is the game plan for the HeForShe campaign, besides a bunch of celebrities tweeting pictures of themselves and people nodding in agreement? There don't seem to be any details.

Doesn't that go without saying?

This is one of my problems with the campaign. There is zero accountability for men. Just hold up a sign, get your picture retweeted and done.

I think He for She may have posted a blog posted about what male allies can do, but it's on the fringes.

This was an interesting alternate take, thanks for posting it.

Emma's heart is in the right place but it's really easy for this kind of campaign to fizzle out if it becomes just another Twitter hashtag.
