Hi, I have the panasonic bd30 and onkyo 805. I watching Die hard 4 I set the audio to dts master in the blu ray disc setup. I set the receiver to dts hd master for audio. Everything lights up and plays but I only get 5.1 surround the rear 2 speakers dont play. They only play when I select ultra 2. Dts master audio is suppossed to play 7.1. Anyone have an idea why its not?

I'm pretty sure that Live Free or Die Hard has DTS HD 5.1 sound, not 7.1 sound. Check the specs on the case.

What you need to try is Hairspray. Rent it/buy it. Some are only getting 5.1 instead of the 7.1 that is stated.

I wouldn't worry about not getting 7.1 with the Onkyo at all, just make sure the user understands the difference between 5.1 and 7.1 listed on the packaging so not to expect 7.1 on all current 5.1 and future 5.1 releases. How difficult can that be?

Actually, there's a couple of different people, I am assuming with different recievers, reporting that Hairspray is only in 5.1 DTS-HDMA and not 7.1 like the box states.

I figured that. I read on the dts site that the dts master was suppossed to carry the 7.1 soundtrack so I was hoping that all dts master would play.
Thanks guys. |

DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, Lionsgate, DTS-HD MA 7.1 Hairspray, New Line, DTS-HD MA 7.1 (24 bit) House of 1,000 Corpses, Lionsgate, DTS-HD MA 7.1 Oldboy, Tartan, DTS-HD MA 7.1 DTS-HD High Resolution Audio 7.1 The Condemned, Lionsgate, DTS-HD HRA 7.1 Linear Pulse Code Modulation - LPCM 7.1 Delta Farce, Lionsgate, PCM 7.1 (48kHz, 16 bit) Ultimate Avengers Collection, Lionsgate, PCM 7.1 National Lampoon's Van Wilder (Unrated), Lionsgate, PCM 7.1 Waiting: Unrated and Raw, Lionsgate, PCM 7.1 Weeds: Season Two, Lionsgate, PCM 7.1 I currently own five of the above titles, and below is what they claim for audio output and what my receiver actually detected. 1) Dr. Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme (Lionsgate) claims DTS-HD MA 7.1. My receiver says "DTS-HD MSTR" with 7.1 channels illuminated. 2) Hairspray (New Line) claims DTS-HD MA 7.1. My receiver says "DTS-HD MSTR" with 5.1 channels illuminated. 3) The Condemned (Lionsgate) claims DTS-HD HRA 7.1. My receiver says "DTS-HD HI RES" with 5.1 channels illuminated. 4) Delta Farce (Lionsgate) claims PCM 7.1. My receiver says "PCM" with 7.1 channels illuminated. 5) Weeds: Season Two (Lionsgate) claims PCM 7.1. My receiver says "PCM" with 7.1 channels illuminated. So, it appears that there's no problem with PCM 7.1, but there is a problem with DTS-HD MA/HRA 7.1 because my receiver says Hairspray is only DTS-HD MA 5.1 and The Condemned is only DTS-HD High Resolution 5.1. The only true DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio signals my receiver has detected so far, are the Dr. Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme movie, and the New Line Home Entertainment High Definition intro at the very beginning of the Hairspray BD. By the way, when my receiver is actually getting the full DTS-HD MA 7.1 signal, the sound is absolutely awesome! Hopefully, now that there are more HDMI 1.3/1.3a systems being sold, there will be more BD's released with DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio. I always check the BD packaging for the type of audio before I buy, and often the type of audio will be the deciding factor for the purchase. Plain old Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 audio just doesn't cut it anymore. |

Just going to through this into the pot - but don't you need a HDMI 1.3 connection to get the full DTS Master audio?
Perhaps this is why your setup only shows Hairsprary (for example) as a 5.1 output? Just a thought - I'm no tech whizz! |

I get the same problem with Shoot em up.
It's only 5.1 for me. (PS3 set to 7.1 lpcm out via HDMI to Yamaha Rx-V1800) I think the Condemned is the samw way....have to re check, but Rambo is totally fine and so is Waiting (7.1 pcm...not DtsMA) |

Shoot em up in 7.1 works fine for me. I use a Panasonic BD-30 with bitstream turned on though, not a PS3. My Yamaha V663 receiver does the decoding.

had the same issue with Pans...it's actually not the 705's problem...it's the ps3's. it'll output 7.1 sound for games, but not movies. So far every 7.1 track i've put in has come out as 5.1 lpcm. I'm sure they'll address this in an update eventually.
