To the best of my knowledge, this film was last released on DVD in 2002—more than a decade ago. After re-visiting "The Stuntman" last night and being reminded of its brilliance, I long to have an HD copy of "My Favorite Year." This often overlooked gem from 1982 features one of Peter O'Toole's greatest performances. But the film also boasts deft direction by Richard Benjamin and a stellar supporting cast that included Mark Linn-Baker, Jessica Harper, Joe Bologna, Bill Macy, Lainie Kazan, Lou Jacobi, Adolph Green, and the late, great Selma Diamond. This film deserves a Warner Archive release at a minimum. The DVD version is selling for outrageous prices via various resellers.

I read an interview with Mel Brooks maybe two years ago where he said this was being restored for release alongside several other films he produced. Never heard anything since.

Anniversary screening coming up with Richard Benjamin, Lainie Kazan, and Joseph Bologna. HD transfer Still MIA - no Blu-Ray nor streaming. Last release on DVD 2017 from Warner Archive... wonder if it has the commentary that was on the first DVD.
Just announced - were not even getting hi-def in the theatre - they're showing the DVD! Last edited by Greycomm; 07-21-2017 at 07:50 AM. |

On FilmStruck.com there is a 720p stream.
Not sure if it is really HD or just an upscale... |

This film is a masterpiece, and one of the holy grails missing on Blu.
Really? They showed the DVD at the screening? That is just absurd, especially in an age where much lesser films get 2K and 4K scans. Last edited by Nicage22; 02-27-2019 at 11:20 AM. |
