Default Classic Movies You Have Never Seen

I've been a big movie fan for about twenty years and have seen a lot of classic films, but it was only in the past two that I finally caught up with Gone With The Wind, Casablanca and Citizen Kane. Plus, I have still yet to see The Seven Samurai. As for recent "big" movies, I have never seen Armageddon.

So, I'm just curious, are there are any classic films or "must-see" films for movie fans that you haven't gotten around to yet? I realize younger fans might have a bit more catching up to do, but I'm sure there's lots of titles you would consider to be must-see that you haven't seen but would like to eventually.

Also, no shaming on this thread, it's not a character flaw if someone hasn't watched The Godfather, The Sound of Music, Lawrence of Arabia, etc. so no snide comments please.

Some of the big ones are stuff like Gone with the Wind, North by Northwest and Ben-Hur. It's just a case that you come across them on TV and you feel like you know the whole thing just from the amount of time you've come across it over the years.

since I think it's harder to name movies you haven't seen than those you have, I referenced AFI's top 100 list

http://www.afi.com/100years/movies.aspx

I haven't seen

On the Waterfront
Sunset Blvd
The African Queen
Raging Bull
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
It Happened One Night
The Best Years of Our Lives
The Birth of a Nation (and never will)
Amadeus
Vertigo
Network
Wuthering Heights
The Gold Rush
Duck Soup
The Jazz Singer
The Apartment
Bringing Up Baby
Yankee Doodle Dandy

A lot of good titles to catch up on. Vertigo and Raging Bull are two of my all time favourites. My fear with never having seen some classic movies is that when I do catch up to them, my high expectations cloud my enjoyment. I first saw Treasure of the Sierra Madre fairly recently as well, but I was kind of sleepy. I fought to stay awake just to get through the whole thing and I ended up not enjoying the experience. I have to revisit that one again soon.

So I also checked the AFI list, and here are the ones I haven't seen yet:

The Grapes of Wrath
Mr Smith Goes To Washington (I own this, but haven't actually watched it yet!)
It Happened One Night
The Best Years Of Our Lives
The Birth Of A Nation
The Philadelphia Story
All Quiet On The Western Front
Stagecoach
Wuthering Heights
The Gold Rush
Giant (another one I own but haven't caught yet)
A Place In The Sun

Seems like most of the older ones I haven't seen yet, which makes sense as I tend to favour film noir or musicals from that era as opposed to drama.

Off the top of my head, I've never seen Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, The Sound of Music, Lawrence of Arabia, The Godfather, The African Queen and The Treasure of Sierra Madre.

I"m not much of a horror fan, so there's also a lot of classic horror movies I should probably see at some point.

Halloween
Carrie
Nightmare on Elm St

I'm sure there are others

Sure, but why not kick up one of those threads instead and continuing there? This kind of feels superfluous; all these regurgitated answers again......

If it wasn't for a film studies class I took in high school, I would have seen about zero classic films.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (I plan to fix that, considering I own the Blu-Ray.)
The Breakfast Club.
