This was a pretty poor announcement via email from Zavvi. Email says Ł24.99 and contains 3D versions of the film, but the actual listings are at Ł19.99 and don't include any 3D disc.

I was holding off buying Force Awakens as I'm waiting for the inevitable UHD but this is pretty tempting...would look great sitting next to my Star Wars laserdiscs.

Don't look at me like that.

You are crazy.... to not think that.
Double dip for looks.

If their listing for TFA is correct then it will include the new discs normally only available in the 3D release so tempted to pick that up as I have no interest in 3D but wanted the commentary and additional extras.

I would be tempted if I could tell how they actually looked. The stock images don't show anything (even when you view the other pics they have with 4 art cards). Doesn't show how the discs fit or what the actual case looks like on the outside.

I imagine it'll be like Lord Karnage's "Laser Hyper Vision" box set." I've not seen one in person but I always thought the disc holder looked pretty flimsy.

The other possibility is an earbook style but they always seem to be like hardback books rather than gatefold LP/LDs.

I asked Zavvi about this but they weren't able to provide any further details/pictures.

To me it looks like there are 2 pockets on the inside rear page of the book.
The opening is about 1/3rd and 2/3rds of the way down on the right hand side

You're right, I missed them before. There are three pockets on the inside of the star wars gatefold. Looks like an unimpressed face...

Oh yeah I see them now. I wonder how they sit on a shelf. I guess they're just like records! No structure to them.

I found the actual Zavvi press release:

Quote:
Get ready to be bent over again for movies you already own, with the Big Sleeve Edition. Presented in a fragile cardboard sleeve, this over-priced tat comes with a Blu-ray™ and DVD of the movie, and exclusive 12” art cards you’ll either lose, or never open. So take it up the ass again, until we come up some other way to fleece gullible as f*** collectors, with The Big Sleeve Edition.

I won't be able to get these on my shelf so err...

Hope this bonus disc will become available elsewhere.

If you want a 12" sleeve, buy the soundtrack (on vinyl you'll never listen to) at least that'll probably be worth something when you try and resell it!

Laserdiscs are still the best way to view the unmolested (ignoring the odd audio tweak/clean up) theatrical version, though the "fan edits the mods have declared we're not to mention" are pretty darn good.

If it's like the Spanish and Italian Warner's editions the disc holder is like that but also comes inside a stiff cardboard inner sleeve.

Picked up the Disney steelbooks, they'll do for me. No interest in double-dipping.

Kinda tempted by TFA but I think I'll skip it, looks a bit flimsy.

Disney's The Big Fleece Editions ...

I've mentioned it a few times that I would have preferred larger BDs or UHD BDs (as the storage would be far larger) and add to the collectability, but I think these would have been neat if they'd been high quality mini vinyl sized packages, something that can go alongside our other BDs on the shelf. Like a large Diamond Luxe edition.

And good luck getting these in one piece from Zavvi. HMV are probably a safer bet!
