Shelley Duvall on Dr. Phil

Anyone see this? It was foul.

There have been rumors for years about her mental health, but aside from an Enquirer interview, she's been left alone. It's horrific to see her like that with no one to offer her help, but it's even worse to see her turned into a television spectacle. The awful show even seemed to be confused as to who was actually being "interviewed," they blew up pictures of Ronee Blakely and tried passing them off as Duvall.

I've always loved her and grew up watching Faerie Tale Theatre & her movies; she was so unusual (often brilliant, too) and that was what always appealed to me.

Vivian Kubrick started a Go Fund Me for her. Vivian Kubrick is a Scientologist whackadoo who eventually deleted the Go Fund Me after people like Candy Clark called her out on her shit. She made up some lie about Duvall losing her SAG pension and insurance benefits if she was given the donation money & we were all issued refunds.

I only know her from The Shining although I watched it a while back. That is sad. I did view a clip of Dr. Phil talking to her on CBS This Morning.

Edit: I rewatched the clip with audio. Why can't she get actual help instead of going to Phil?

I saw a clip in passing from that horrible show Inside Edition where she was looking rough. It's a shame, I hope if anything good comes from this nonsense it's that she can get the help she needs.

I watched the episode last night and it was a trainwreck. I don't even know what the point of it was.

Dr. Phil used her mental health in order to exploit her, and by the end of the episode, absolutely nothing was done or resolved.

Not really, she turned out to be a crazy Scientologist who deleted comments & blocked everyone who asked if the money was going to go toward psychiatric help. Those of us who donated have been issued refunds after the Go Fund Me was deleted; she's now on Twitter claiming she ended it because Duvall's SAG pension and insurance benefits would be affected by a large donation, which is baloney.

Holy shit, from Dr. Phil exploiting Duvall's mental illness to this new development, this whole story is completely absurd. It's yet another example of truth being stranger than fiction.

There's a fairly decent percentage on patients with late-onset schizophrenia, though it's still the minority. We don't know when exactly she started having problems, but just listening to her it seems obvious that's what she's suffering from (all her talk of hearing voices that threaten her and comfort her at the same time, etc).
