China Gone with the Bullets (2014) [No 3D Blu-ray] [Digital only - AVP]

What's going on with this movie?

I know that there's a DVD only (2d only, presented in a locked AR and it's cut) release in only 1 or 2 countries.

Why hasn't this movie got a blu ray 3d release?

Nearly three years since this movie was originally released in theaters in 3D and IMAX 3D, shot natively with 3D cameras as well as IMAX 3D digital cameras for the IMAX scenes, and still no word of a blu ray 3D release of this film.

The lack of a blu ray 3d release of this film is inexcusable.

This movie really needs a blu ray 3D release (with the IMAX VAR included).

It was poorly received in China, and Mainland China hardly presses any Blu-rays as it is, so it had very little chance there. Hong Kong is not interested in Mainland films, so slim chances we'd see it pressed there either. A German distributor is probably the only possibility left. Unfortunately, it seems to have fallen through the cracks like many of Korea's native 3D films. Outside Japan, Asia has a very small market for physical media.

If anyone has seen In the Heat of the Sun or Devils on the Doorstep, you know how talented Jiang Wen is as a director. With a massive budget for art direction and the beautiful Shu Qi in a lead role, it's too bad we can't see this one properly. The 3D was supervised by Keith Collea, the lead stereographer on Mojin, and no doubt it looks stunning.

I just discovered that the Canadian, British, Australian, and French (as Flowers War) Apple TV stores have this movie in 1080p SDR 3D for Apple Vision.

That's wonderful, but I suspect it was the shorter 118-minute international version right? The original version released in mainland China runs 140-minute.

I don’t think English subtitles even exist for the original Chinese cut. Sony only distributed the international cut.

How’s the 3D in this film? As good as in Mojin?

Unfortunately no if I remembered correctly, mostly pretty mild use of 3D and there's quite a lot converted shots (mostly ones involving many special effects) but I do want to rewatch this again in 3D.
